Why would somebody do this to a k4600 yoke?

I got the monitor working. It had a bad xy card. When I put the TPG on it everything was backwards. Can I just solder the wires back to where they are supposed to be or is there something deeper going on here?

the outer tabs are supposed to be for horizontal winding.
The outer tabs in the bottom row (as seen in the 1st pic) are for the vertical coil(s). The middle tab (unused here) is for a series connection. The only problem I see is that there should be two wires going to each tab (parallel connection) but I see only one per tab.

Horizontal (top row in 1st pic) looks fine.

Now I can see there are two wires on every tab so I don't see where the problem is. Aren't the wires connecting yoke to chassis terminated with quick-disconnects? Connect the red/blue to the H tabs (reverse them if the picture is reversed horizontally) and the green/yellow wires to the V tabs (reverse them if the picture is reversed vertically).

BTW I think mecha was referring to a yoke like this where the red board is upside down compared to yours but it doesn't really matter if the coils are connected properly to the chassis.

I have seen some very rare 4600 yokes where the winding for the horizontal are on the inside and vertical on the outside!
I've seen them with the letter color labels and without. we're in bizarro alternate reality!
