So since i've joined this board, I've seen KLOV name-checked multiple times - not in a good way - on various California craigslist postings. Here's the latest one:

http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/for/2350963344.html

"ITS BECOMMING MORE AND MORE APARENT, SADLY, THAT KLOV MEMBERS, AND COLLECTORS LIKE MYSELF IN GENERAL ARE QUITE SAD AND DISTURBED PEOPLE."

There's more, that was just the money line.

Anyway, I like KLOV, in fact my cpu usually sits on this board even if I'm not at it. Does that make me "sad and disturbed"?

Just wondering what all the venom towards here is about, that's all. I find this place informative, certainly nothing sad or disturbing about it.

I guess I just don't put that much weight in a Craigslist rant in all caps about flaggers. I could be wrong. FYI, the guy he is talking about posts multiple times a week across all the So Cal Craigslists, so the flagger(s) are likely competition, people anal about violating Craigslist's posting policy or both. KLOV rocks, I agree.

It kinda reminds me of a guy in town who was trying to sell his MAME'd red tent for a grand. He told a friend of mine that collectors were just 'lowballers'. Well who the hell you trying to sell that Red Tent to then? Who else would want it?

I think it is frustration over the fact that as a community we have a pretty good idea what you can realistically get for these things and a lot of the retailers count on a different type of buyer. Well that different type of buyer is becoming fewer and further between and it is much easier to lash out at us versus the economy.

I get my stuff flagged all the time by Klovers even though I myself am Klov. Sell cheap, it gets flagged. Sell high, it gets flagged. Then the arguement about whats cheap and what high. I get aobut 10 emails a day worth of spam communicateing about prices rather than making the sale. Total time wasters. Block the time wasters My.02

Rule 1: Everyone hates the guy(s) who tell them their stuff is worth less than 1/4 of the price they, the seller, is asking.

Rule 2: Everyone hates the competition, be it buyers or sellers.

Rule 3: Craigslist is the lowest common denominator of human beings. Use at your own risk.

Rule 4: Pepsi is awesome. Drink some today!

+1. Pretty much it in a nutshell.

I would exempt people like Todd Tuckey from this generalization, though. I think he recognizes the KLOV world is not his average walk-in customer... definitely seems like a fan of these games as well as a businessman.

so the original CL ad is flagged. what was the full text of it? i guess i could see ads like this in CA, cause there's so many more klovers out there, but i've never seen one out here before.

I can tell you that the few retail outlets who used to offer games where I live couldn't stand the internet arcade communities, and it's because they hurt their ability to screw people out of their money.

Most of them are gone now, but you'll occasionally see them trying to sell stuff at, say, a fair or swap meet. They scowl a lot.

No way I can quote it in full.

A lot of South Park references, all in caps. A guy saying he at first disagreed with Timmaaay, but now he agrees with Timmaaaay. If I had to guess, I'd say whoever it was was actually Timmaaaay just agreeing with himself.

Me, I like South Park, but not enough to name myself after one of their cripples.

Ah yes, we have a guy who slums at a indoor swap meet out here (think of the one with the fortune teller in 'Mallrats', but not so nice). He's the one with the $1000 mame'd red tent who thinks collecters are 'lowballer assholes'. Apparently he likes to yell at anyone who comes by his sad little stand (supposedly his games are really run down) and offers him what his games are really worth.

Guess he scowls a lot too!

I think it the guy who just flips games. He doesn't repair. He just flips the games or at least attempts too. I think he was here at one time on this forum. He was trying to get Los Angeles prices for his stuff here. The prices of his stuff would be reasonable if it was working and repaired but since he just flips the games you get a pertty rough game for the amount you spend. Buying eletronics from a person who doesn't know how to repair them is just asking for trouble. Most buyers I know want that plug and play product. Not Plug and repair product.
There is fustration on his part becuase what he thought would be a way to make a few dollars is becoming a nightmare. There is fustration on his customers who buy an item and than try to find someone else to repair it. There is fustration on other people who see what this person does and drys up the cheap pool of games. Someone is going to get upset and do the old blame game on someone. We just seeing the results of that on CL.

Craigslist.....the e-volution of the garage sale.......

Much like swap meets and flea markets the "dealers" or "pros" have settled in so of course they wouldn't "like" a klover.....

I find the back and forth highly entertaining, I wish they wouldn't flag the ads so fast as I can't keep up and miss most of it....:D
