Was wondering why nobody has tried to make a Nintendo Vs. multi? Surely somebody could do it and it would sell...

That would be sweet to have a kit with some sort of plugin board with a multi PPU, uni and vs. support, a menu, and all the rare/nonexistent titles.

I've been thinking about doing it with with a cheap tablet or a raspberry, android mame for my Vs. Cab, but I have a couple of other things to finish up first...

I guess it's just a matter of getting the right harnesses and adapters, but I wonder how the light gun would work?

The ArcadeSD supports 5 or 10 VS titles, and it has a light gun header "for future expansion." I'm hopeful thay'll eventually they're add a few light gun titles.

It includes:
Clu Clu World
Excitebike
Ice Climber
Golf
Pinball
Soccer
Slalom
Lady Golf
Super Mario World

Why not just use an old pc that you can get for free. It is much more suited to the task than cell phone based hardware is.

Emulation based light guns are very hit or miss. I would exclude them from the cabinet if I were you.

I think it's just a matter of time before we see a multi Nintendo Vs. board since (I forget his name) is working on the Multi PPU. After it's finished I would imagine it wouldn't be too far of a leap to make a multi.

I've never owned or cared much about anything VS, though I've thought building a dedicated SMB would be neat. If a multi VS was available, that would be one multi cabinet that would be hard to resist. I'm sure I'd want it if it were made.

I just wanted to necro this thread to state that I would pay a significant number of green spending rectangles for such a board. ESPECIALLY if it were dual-header and worked in a red tent to allow the four-player games across both monitors, or a split of separate games between the two sides, as the players choose.

I have an ArcadeSD multigame that I love but the SD just does a terrible job on the VS titles for some reason, the video and sound are significantly off.

/just brought my semi-restored red tent home. :D One day it'll get minted up the rest of the way, I think

Wasn't 2600 going to work on a multi? Thought i read that. It would be great if it supported the redtent and the dual system, as mike said.
I would imagine it would start with just the unisystem, like most stuff VS.
Us redtent owners would just have to wait a little longer.

Yeah there is a thread on it. Not sure where he is at with it now, haven't seen any updates in several months now.

Honestly I would be thrilled if someone would just build a jamma board with an SD card slot that could run Nes roms.

The vs. Unisystem multi-adapter is out. I'm not sure if it works with a dual system or red tent. I imagine space would be an issue with the redtent.

It might be possible to use that in a red tent, but it would be tight and require a lot of work.

@Paige you could just JAMMAtize a NES and put in a Powerpak cart. Then it'd run on original hardware as well.

I really hope this gets done some day. It'd be nice to get rid of some of these Vs. boards. On the other hand depending on how many games fit on these and the price point it may not be cost effective except to have some rarities like NJJMK and MBJ.

Enh, overkill solution and as you say, no room in red tents. A daughterboard that runs a selector for the ROMs is the way to fly on this, as 2600's concept work shows. Looking forward to it!

I bought a Vector Labs Vs selector and adapters for 2 boards. I'm very glad I did. It's an expensive but great solution. Four Vs game in one cab is the right number for me. It works flawlessly.

I wouldn't hold my breath on a a single multi-game selector, like the Space Invaders 8-in-1 or multi-Williams, though I would love one. Who knows when we can even expect the mythical universal PPU

Hi, that's me. Still working on it.

I don't know, 2600 has some pictures of prototyping and the universal ppu has progress posted on his blog. He actually has some built and its progressing fairly well from what I can tell.

Honestly, I think the worst thing we can do is talk negatively about people r&r time on this kind of thing. Life and about 1000 other things get in the way at any given time. Plus, these solutions will be the only way I can play mbj on my red tent ;)

2600 is awesome and I look forward to his multi.

As for playing a lot of games in a red tent, I suggest you install the playchoice conversion kit and put in 2600's NES adapter and put a powerpak in the adapter.
