Why did you put one screw in from the bottom to hold the pcb to the chassis in my Donkey Kong Junior, then put the whole thing on the shelf? Did you really hate technicians that much?

Sorry, not much of a question here, just letting out a bit of frustration.

I guess to do a cap kit, i will either have to remove the monitor, or drill an access hole from the bottom side. I think i'm going with the later. Anyone else do it that way?

Nintendo monitors are easy to take out of the machine completely. Four simple screws, and the bezels are easy to remove.

You would almost have to in order to get to the chassis, since they have all of the 'armor plating', as I like to call it. You have the neck guard, and the flyback housing to take off anyway. It is just easier, IMO, to remove the whole tube.

I get where you are coming from, though. most modern cabinets have access to just the chassis and made the tube the more difficult thing to remove.

I ended up drilling a relatively small hole through the shelf. I just kind of measured where it needed to be and somehow managed to hit it perfectly. It was still a pain to remove all the protectors but i got the boards out and recaped. Now its time to reassemble. I'm sure i'll end up pulling the monitor before too long so i can restore the machine, but i've got too many others on the plate at this time, so i just wanted this one in playable condition for now. I'm not sure how that monitor was going at all. One cap was completely corroded off on one side. I guess i can thank it for helping keep the price down at the auction.
