Why is the market soft right now?

Arcades in general are just cooling down right now. The hobby, collecting and even playing comes and goes and comes again.

Even the fair weather mame stuff isn't selling as well as it once was. I know a guy who's been sitting on a stock of professionally made and extremely competitively priced Mame cabinets since last October. In the 8 months since he's made them he's only been able to sell 1 cabinet.

We have to wait a few years to see how this all trickles down to property taxes and people trying to scooped up real estate

I am in a profession where people both foreign, and, domestic, are getting wacked and can't find another gig. The job market is like 2008 all over again (at least in my humble, uneducated opinion).

Thanks for being a dick. I just don't get why that's needed sometimes.

How am I being a dick? I"m just asking, you said that the Arcade Market is soft because people with Visas are getting kicked out, I wanted to hear more about that because I haven't heard about that happening around here.

It just felt like you thought my statements were stupid and you were blasting them. I hadn't done formal research, was just stating thoughts. Thank you vm for clarifying.

Respectfully bro, it just comes and goes. Maybe it might not come back in our lifetime, maybe it will. Simply put this is not the first time it's gone down a bit. The last bump in collecting came when the 90's stuff became all the rage to collect.

So they have deported so many people with Visas in Delaware, that it is hurting the arcade collecting market? That is so interesting. I had no idea they were deporting so many people with visas, from Delaware, that it was affecting anything much in the economy.

Has it caused housing prices to crash? I mean the prices must be dropping like a ROCK on housing with that many people just vanished...

And are they leaving their cars, so the car prices go down? Or are they driving the cars back to where they're being deported to (with their Visas)
now that I think about it, 95% of collectors I have met are white old dudes.

On the starwars cockpit conversations towards the end...
Honestly, I could make some reproduction cockpits.. full metal kit.. (i actually cut 5 kits when i had my plasma cnc, but they have not been bent to shape yet) I can get complete cockpit harnesses made.. I can get the art made as well (uv printed) and they would be around 3K. Problem is i doubt anyone would buy one, even though all you would need to complete it would be to strip the board, monitor, coin door, and yoke off an upright and you'd have a cockpit.

could you imagine all the complaining about people stripping out an original upright??

But, but..... Brett, look at all the extra star wars chairs we could have. :ROFLMAO: Every old-timer collector knows an original upright can be converted to a chair with a green phone. 🤷‍♂️ Just ask @jawhn. So I don't understand the hate there. :D
