Why is the market soft right now?

All I know is I would be forcing people to do the kiddie rides after trying to get that down in the basement!

I keep seeing old amusement rides for sale, and I'm like, ooh, we could get a pool and then HUGE used tube slide that goes into the pool! I mean, it's the same with the wooden coasters. It has to be the easiest restoration project ever! Who cares If the wood is rotted and bolts are rusted through. It's not like it's hard to find 2x4's and bolts...

Although with my luck, I would reassemble the whole darn thing, and then you wise fellas would point out that I didn't buy the right grade bolts... three months later my account goes dormant because I didn't get around to swapping out the bolts like tou said I should and the whole thing collapses on me. Somewhere in the distance my wife wonders why she couldn't have found a husband who has "normal" hobbies....

Speaking of "I told you so," I really out to get round to ordering parts for the midway NBA Jam sound board that everyone is talking about!

3 phase hydraulics green Machine. I am very proud of the crew who got this ride simulator running and operating.

soon to be available at arcadeshop the quantum multi pcb. This is the first quantum pcb with cycle accurate cpu emulation and 100% accurate draw routine.
all my pcbs are assembled in the USA View attachment 806269
This looks awesome! Too bad I don't have a cabinet to put in it.

Maybe someday you could make a Tempest to quantum adapter and then all I have to do is figure out how to put a track ball in place of the spinner. I am sure it wouldn't work that easily, but it is just me dreaming of someday owning a Quantum.

Congrats on your latest achievement!

Do what you enjoy. The enjoyment that I have seen on people that have ridden my kiddie ride is worth every penny that I put into that thing.

redemption stuff pops up around here all the time, usually in a lot of 5-15 and the average price is about 250 each, and nobody buys them.

More people aware of them and more people who first saw them when younger now have money, thus the demand increases. Same ole, same ole, I rekkin'

i never saw candy cabs back in the day, and they never thrilled me.. i do like the vewlix cabs though.

I could care less about candy cabs. For people who love them, good! They aren't my thing.

Not enough blowing up of stuff.

I live near Carowinds and I used to think the same thing, eventually I figured out they replaced 1/3rd of the wood every year on the big wooden coaster there. Crazy! Eventually they tore it down instead of spending the money to maintain it and put in more metal ones.

Personally I don't think that the market is soft. The market went NUTS during COVID and everything became overpriced and the demand went through the roof and lasted for multiple years after Covid.

I think the market for Arcade Games is slowly getting back to pre-covid days.

That, or we need some economic ED medicine.

Unfortunately, it took 4 years to mess things up. I'm praying it doesn't take 4 years to right the ship.
COVID was a shock with all sorts of weird effects. I thought the US economy recovered great and it's still strong. Government is a drag on it in all its forms. Stock market jumping around but that's more about what people think about the future.

I miss the candy cab era. I still stuck in the plywood and mdf era of arcade machines lol

back when I was buying tons of games, I wound up with 2 candy cabinets. namco exeleena blue and taito egret. I did not care for them as they took up too much space and I did not like to play games on a stool. so I sold them to fellow collectors probably in the mid-late 90's. I made a pretty decent profit on them back then so I was happy with that..

then I wanted to find one around 2010 to give to my brothers kids and I realized what I had give up when I bought a jaleco pony 4. the namco and taito were like ferrari's of the candy cabs! they were impossible to get, and sold for 3x-4x what I sold them for when you could get one. the jaleco pony more like a chevy nova. I never gave my nephews the jaleco. I made a midway cocktail into a mulitgame for them..

I sold a few games recently, mostly my overflow of "project games" that I will never get to. The selling price was what I paid for the game before the "COVID Crazy" prices. I would rather sell a game to a new arcade collector/restorer, wanting their first arcade game just getting into the hobby, at a low price. This primes the pump for the next game purchase from the same person. We all know how it starts with one game and builds from there!
