I don't ever respond to no price or MMAO ads. The reason is simple: They can find out an approximate value in about 5 minutes and ask a price.
Thats not really true. I can find several items around the house that don't have any sales on klov.
I list stuff as mmao all the time. I actually get some interesting trades this way - all trades I have done were from mmao threads even though in pretty much any fs thread I post trades are accepted.
I like mmao threads as a buyer and seller but I am also not afraid to negotiate - put your adult pants on and try it you'd be surprised what you can get (you don't get a discount you didn't ask for). My favorite ebay listing is buy it now or make an offer - I have some great exchanges sometimes like earlier today I had a seller counter an offer with an offer that was three dollars lower than the buy it now price so I countered with an offer 3 dollars higher - the reply was genuinely hilarious in a good way.
Also pretty much any time I list something as mmao it sells waaaaaaaaaaay faster than if I list a price. I also don't use mmao threads fishing for highest bidder if I accept a deal that's who is getting it - negotiate the deal and mark the thread sold or decline and move on.
I find it hilarious that people get so mad over mmao threads. It's simple - if the thread says mmao in the title DONT CLICK ON IT. If the seller is selling something with no price KINDLY either by post or pm and say "Hey it would be awesome if you put MMAO in your thread title - if you don't know how ask and I'll tell you how to". No reason to raise your blood pressure or get up to kick the dog, it's not the end of the world I promise you.
I just posted a mmao thread for a complete zig zag machine. I am not really sure what it's worth or if it is even original - I think it is but I've never seen one. Could I find any sales - nope. So I list it as mmao and maybe someone who is a fan of bootleg machines that will cherish it will buy it. I am not looking for a ton of money for it so I'll let someone shoot me an offer cash or trade and negotiate a deal - easy peasy. Feel free not to click on it
