why does the wrong ppu make rbi baseball colors correct?

I am not getting any attention in my old repair thread, so I thought I would go mainstream :O) with this question.

I used the proper ppu (according to blkdog's site, and everyone I have spoken too) and
had bad colors. Tried 3 different ppu's that were working fine in their current game.

So I just start messing around and pull the ppu from vs tennis and throw it in the daughter card of rbi baseball.

Color is perfect now.

I was wondering if the dipswitches on the daughter card make a difference, and they are adjustable so you can use any ppu?
I am a nintendo vs rookie.

Looks like dip swith 6-8 will change the colors.

Manual shows
Dips on sub board must be
1=on 2=on 3=off 4=on

Vs board dips

6=off 7=off 8=off (John's site shows #8 on?)

Yes, dip switches on some games will screw with the colors.

I can double check my Vs. RBI if you'd like.

no need, I switched up numbers 6-8 and the color is good.

funny how the tennis cpu made the colors perfect the way it was set though.

nice

glad you fixed it.
I wish so badly i had you guys around me. I would pay $$$ for courses in this shit.
I have boards and machines that would be easy fixes for many of you (like dip switches and reading schematics,.soldering,.wiring,.everything) but they are way difficult for me.
Im learning only by reading,.and hands on ,.but im scared to do to much.
Is there like an arcade owners hand guide,.or a Arcades for dummies book?
