I noticed that the marquee on my Stargate machine looks different from all the other marquees. Was this a prototype of some sort?

It doesn't say Williams on the upper left corner and also it doesn't have the Stargate copyright on the right side.

Any ideas?

I would look at the back of your cabinet to see whats pressed into the wood and the serial number on your board.

Could also be some sort of reproduction or production error. But if its proto, that's cool.

I checked mine, and I agree, yours is different for the reasons you said.

Your bezel is also different. My bezel has color in it - yours looks all black and white.

What's your serial number?

Where would I find a serial number? I can't seem to find it on the back of the cab anywhere.

Looking closely at the monitor bezel, I think it is off of a Defender. Maybe someone changed it at one point.

As for the marquee itself, it looks to be factory issued. The graphic is on the plexi.

on the boards there is a little tag that says Williams on it. it has a serial number.

On the back edge of the top of the wood, Williams pushes in a number into the wood. as you face the back, its on the top left side.

If you cant find it, Take some pics of the cab and the boards and you will have your questions answered.

did they stamp it on the front as well below the control panel and above the coin door somewhere like with the rest of the classic williams machines?

My Stargate has the serial number on the front, under the control panel on the right side.

sidenote: I've always heard some people call it "Defender Stargate" but never noticed until like last month the marquee literally says Defender Stargate on it. :p
