It's obvious they couldn't care less about who is receiving, as long as the shipper pays.
I just bought my 2nd item off of E-Bay over the weekend. Got my shipping notice on Tuesday and found a delivery attempt slip on my door on Wednesday. No problems with the speed of delivery.
PROBLEM #1 - They tried to deliver at 2:50pm on a weekday, despite knowing that it is a residential address (apartment complex) and that it would be unlikely that anyone would be home. UPS at least schedules most residential deliveries for after 5pm.
PROBLEM #2 - Well, as I said, I live in an apartment complex. I really don't want to sign the slip authorizing them to leave it outside my door (item over $100 value), so I figure I'll just head to their website and have them deliver it to my work today. Hmm, seems you can't do that on their website, like you can on UPS. I have to call them and speak to a representative.
PROBLEM #3 - So I call and maneuver my way through the options until I get a live person. I explain I had a door tag, but didn't want to chance it being left, and would like to have it delivered to my work address instead where I can receive it during the day. Well, it seems that they can do that - FOR $11!!! What the hell?!? I've done this before with UPS and not had a problem (or surcharge). So I ask about a later delivery time, but they can't guarantee that either. Eventually I just have to reschedule it for a Saturday delivery when I'll be home all day.
Why the hell does Fed-Ex have to make it so damn difficult. UPS doesn't charge extra to reroute, and makes evening deliveries. USPS will at least leave a slip and take it back to the post office so I can pick it up there. FedEx can't even take it to the local FedEx/Kinko's and let me pick it up there.
Now I have to wait until Saturday to get my new toy.
Now I remember why I only ship FedEx when the buyer requests it....
