It's obvious they couldn't care less about who is receiving, as long as the shipper pays.

I just bought my 2nd item off of E-Bay over the weekend. Got my shipping notice on Tuesday and found a delivery attempt slip on my door on Wednesday. No problems with the speed of delivery.

PROBLEM #1 - They tried to deliver at 2:50pm on a weekday, despite knowing that it is a residential address (apartment complex) and that it would be unlikely that anyone would be home. UPS at least schedules most residential deliveries for after 5pm.

PROBLEM #2 - Well, as I said, I live in an apartment complex. I really don't want to sign the slip authorizing them to leave it outside my door (item over $100 value), so I figure I'll just head to their website and have them deliver it to my work today. Hmm, seems you can't do that on their website, like you can on UPS. I have to call them and speak to a representative.

PROBLEM #3 - So I call and maneuver my way through the options until I get a live person. I explain I had a door tag, but didn't want to chance it being left, and would like to have it delivered to my work address instead where I can receive it during the day. Well, it seems that they can do that - FOR $11!!! What the hell?!? I've done this before with UPS and not had a problem (or surcharge). So I ask about a later delivery time, but they can't guarantee that either. Eventually I just have to reschedule it for a Saturday delivery when I'll be home all day.

Why the hell does Fed-Ex have to make it so damn difficult. UPS doesn't charge extra to reroute, and makes evening deliveries. USPS will at least leave a slip and take it back to the post office so I can pick it up there. FedEx can't even take it to the local FedEx/Kinko's and let me pick it up there.

Now I have to wait until Saturday to get my new toy. :(

Now I remember why I only ship FedEx when the buyer requests it....

My USPS is problematic as hell. If they make an attempt to deliver and no ones home they slap the ole "tried to deliver slip" and the package goes back to the shop. That's not the problem. the problem is the next morning I sign the ole "leave it freaking here dude slip" and it can take anywhere between 5-10 days for them to redeliver. My work schedule sucks and I cannot make it to the parcel office in time.

FEDEX pricing is bullshit anyway - they need to go out of business from the daily rape they provide.

USPS I've had the best luck with

ALL aforementioned business' are a bitch to file and settle claims with.

and lets throw DHL out there - those guys suck complete monkey balls.

Fedex guy here tends to just open my outside door and put the box in. Never a slip.

Last time he did it, I was home and ON MY WAY to the door. He still dropped it there and walked away. I went out and asked him nicely to not do so, since 90% of the time they aren't expensive items but IMPORTANT items.

I know he's doing it to avoid the bullshit Fedex timetables etc, and he said that too. Fedex is the ONLY shipper that is useless for residential service, as they ONLY deliver when anyone but a welfare bum is at work. (Or you work nights, but you'll likely be sleeping too)

I don't think the pricing is bad at all when the item is more than say 3 lbs and/or over sized. The only time I use Fed-Ex is if the item is way over size where it is too big to ship USPS.

Sounds to me like the problem was the seller, did they send it FedEx Home or regular FedEx? FedEx Home allows you to make a delivery appointment and they operate on Saturdays. I will always use FedEx to ship, everyone has there favorite, and I hate UPS and USPS.

What,
Didn't you guys get the memo.
Fed Ex is going to merge with UPS. Their new name is going to be FED UP and their trucks are just going to have a big F.U. on the side. True story.

Fedex can't get inside our apartment building (UPS and USPS can), so they always leave "we tried to deliver" slips on the building's front door, which means we have to pick the package up, but only between 5-6pm. Half of the time it goes to the big sorting warehouse instead of the one with a dedicated customer office. When it goes to that one, you have to go through a security checkpoint, dial a phone number from the security office, and wait a 1/2 hour while someone tracks down the package.

I try not to get anything shipped via fedex.

I agree with Deadly, I have the best luck with USPS! I had the absolute worse experience with UPS. About ten years ago they totally destroyed our one and only prototype of the Drumometer. Refused to pay even though it was insured for $1,000.00. it was wrapped in bubble wrap, on foam inside a $500.00 anvil road case for God's Sake........

Fed Ex is not all that great for shipping.
I tried to send a DK coin door to Canada and they wanted over $100.00:eek:
That was Fed Ex ground shipping too.
I said F.U. and took it to USPS and shipped it for $30.00.(priority):)

I agree, we ship all Drumometer related products all around the world every day via USPS Priority, Priority International or First Class domestic and international.....After ten years of struggling with the others it's all USPS baby! :)
