Why do you own a Playchoice?

I was just going to offer you my Punchout in trade for you PC but just read that yours is dual screen too. I'm trying to get away from the dual screen lol

The dual monitor is badass tho because when your playing a game on the bottom monitor the top screen actually displays full pages of instructions on how to play the game your playing. This aspect is missing from the single monitor version and does come in handy for first timers on certain games. Also in games like mario it says how to fly, squat and pick up items etc. And its like this for any game you put in it. Some games it really comes in handy is with games like Rygar, rush n attack etc.

Think of having a NES manual for the game your playing displayed right above you while your playing it. Its kinda like that :)

I press the 'start' button and it displays the instructions. Don't know if it's the same as the USA modals.

Goonies can't be played on the NES, only Goonies II came out. That is the only game with any true difference.

I am told Shatterhand has slitghly different colors, but I only played the PC-10 version for like 5 minutes and never played the NEs version so I am not sure. Not like it matters good effin luck getting a Shatterhand.

I LOVE my PC-10. First off I am pretty sure I am the only person in the world to have the YO! NOID arcade game inside of a Domino's. That and when people come by that and the Golden Tee seem to be the most popular.

It is nice to have the choices of games too. I love it personally.

The biggest negative is the "need to get them all!!!", which after you get close and good and frustrated will go away but it can get expensive before it does :)

I know little about the PlayChoice 10, even though I have a board. I'm not sure if I have any game with it, but I found out after I got it that the games were on a timer, so I decided it wasn't for me and just never got around to getting rid of it.

Now from what I understand in this thread free play and no timer go hand in hand. You can't set it for one with out the other.

Nevertheless, I have "Mario Bros." and "Vs. Super Mario Bros." PCBs, which are the only Nintendo games for me, so I'll stick with those and sell the PC10.

Yeah, the Playchoice 10 I want to add to my startup collection next. Currently have a Multicade 48in1 which is so popular at parties and when people are over, I think the Playchoice 10 would be just as popular. Also, think they both will be a great into to videogames to my two sons which the youngest is just getting into things like 1942 and Frogger and such. There are a few up on Ebay now, but none in my area (Milwaukee) so I will just have to wait for the right time and get the wife's approval. Don't really see any downside though in the PC10 yet, besides the cost and searching for some of the games.

The one downside is you got to get them all :p

No they are great machines, mine doesn't have a gun which is annoying but other then that it's great fun. Everyone who has had a go on mine loves it. It's got all those nintendo classic and it's worth every penny :)

Dual vs single is definitely a personal preference thing. I love the dual myself. It's charming in the same way some of the design decisions on the mvs are. It's also so nintendo, with putting out a helping hand to the player at every opportunity. It's a pretty big deal to me, even though it could come off as a waste of a monitor.

My pc10 isn't on freeplay, but I always coin up a ton. Whenever the game hits a rest spot i just reach down and coin up some more. I believe someone mentioned freeplay screws with the attract mode somehow? Really I am just being lazy and don't mind coining up.

i have had my dual monitor pc10 for years i love it just the other day i was home alone and fired it up, it kind of took me back to my youth i grew up playing smb, excite bike and tecmo bowl witch by the way if they ever made a super tecmo bowl and someone has one please let me know. anyways i was like a kid all over again playing excite bike its cool because i can play 10 different games and if i get sick of one or want to move on to the next i hit the reset button and pick the next game. i like mine so much i bought a 2nd dual monitor one as a project i had listed it for sale on here no one wanted it. now i dont need the money so im keeping it and hope to have it finished by the end of the year, im looking at making one sports and the other all other games. as far as who plays it i have to say it gets played the most or tied with my 48-1 everyone loves smb and tyson. i paid 400 for my working one with 10 games and the project game i have about 250 wrapped up in it with 2 games i wont spend more then 40 for a game unless someone out there has a super tecmo bowl so if you are asking me should you get one i say yes without a doubt

I was going for a complete NES collection but decided against it because it was to many games, most of which aren't that good in my opinion. Then I found out this wonderful arcade machine existed looked up what games were made for it and thought most of them were good. From there I searched for one and found one locally for $350 with 10 games. Bought 3 more games I wanted then it sat untouched for almost 2 years before I decided I wanted to complete my set of games for it. I started buying stuff and it very clearly spiraled out of hand :)

I even started on getting all the flyers.

I've owned two dual monitor PC10s. The first was pulled from a route and was beat up, but it worked and was loaded with games. I sold it.

I bought a second, well, traded, because I wanted one. It was becoming too expensive to piece together. I sold it, and it is now a nice looking Punch Out!!

I miss the PC10, and I will own another. I want either the counter top model or the single monitor, though.

I love mine. Got it for 200.00 in excellent condition. Just replaced the brittle t- molding and the marquee with NOS. I was going to order the original artwork but dont really like it. I was thinking I might get the artwork from some of the games I have in there like Contra or Mario Brothers. Havent decided yet.

Yea they are good fun and you can find then cheap if you look around. They start getting expensive depending what games are with them.
I got my single screen for £500 with 16 games. Was a bargain :)

Finally finished the restoration on mine. My current game list is as follows:

Dr. Mario
RC Pro Am
Super Mario Bros
Rygar
Metroid
Kung Fu
Rush N Attack
Pinbot
Trojan

BTB, I just sold 5 of my 14 titles to a friend leaving me with 9 total. I need a tenth game now, what should it be? I gave up these titles:

Mike Tyson's Punchout
Rad Racer
Double Dragon
Pro Wrestling
Tecmo Bowl

My restored PC-10:

I had that one and SMB2 at one time traded them away. Also, I have traded away Baseball, Contra and Gauntlet. I really have no idea why anyone would want to collect them all. I only want 10-12 at a time to have a full set and at least 2 alternates to change out once in a while. Games I would still like to get
are Ninja Gaiden, Double Dribble and Excitebike.

I am not sure what you are into, but lemme list what I have going on/hope to swap into mine and maybe you'll see something interesting:

Currently:

Gradius
Castlevania
Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Super Mario Bros.
Pro Wrestling
TMNT
Gauntlet
Rush N Attack
Double Dragon
1942

Baseball is sitting out

I'll eventually get around to swapping 1942 and possibly Double Dragon out for Contra and Dr. Mario. If I were to trip over a Metroid, Ninja Gaiden or Super Mario Bros. 3 I'd also contemplate swapping Rush N Attack. Pro Wrestling is charming and is just pure uncut childhood 80's. Early NES + Wrasslin. Castlevania and Gradius are going no where. Ever. Castlevania is a game I find myself beating over and over and over on the PC-10. Tengen Gauntlet is a great version of the game. It actually has an ending with different path choices. TMNT is great nostalgia and has a kick ass attract mode. MT Punchout is...well...MT Punchout. Same with SMB. I mean, PC-10 and no SMB? That shouldn't be allowed.

1942 would be in the spares because, honestly, I never liked this port of the game. It plays a bit awkward to me. NES 1943 was leaps and bounds better and should have been a PC-10 game instead. Double Dragon would only sit out until I wanted to change things up. Everyone remembers this version of the game the most, even more so than the arcade version. Same with Rush N Attack. Baseball is in the spares because...well...it's aged horribly. I can't see ever putting it back into the line up. May see if I can hack it to play something else or sell it.

Out of your list I am surprised Mike Tyson's Punch Out is out. Unless you also have a PunchOut cab?

Anyone add lightgun games to their PC-10? Hogan's Alley, Duck Hunt and Wild Gunman would be interesting to add, I'm just not sure if it is worth drilling it up for the gun mount and gun wire. Kind of hypocritical of me, however, considering I don't want to remove the graffiti and scuffs on my machine's side art (came from an arcade in a busy San Francisco neighborhood...it's kinda quirky and has character outside of the usual gang tags these machines get).

i dont because they are too f*()(*G expensive!! i do own two games though...dont recall which two lol i think smb3 and something else mabye excitebie or something..
