I've seen many articles where people have said that they've seen arcade cabs at junk-salvage yards. What is it about these cabs that they make their way there of all places? I would never have thought that would be viewed as a final resting place for arcade games.

the story with that was some province in china was so fed up with gambling that tey went to every joint int he area and pulled every game video pachinko pachislo didnt matter and destroyed them all..

pretty effing stupid, dont know how you would gamble on blast city lol

Arcade machines turn up in odd places, but for the most part, I don't see why they'd be at a traditional junkyard - there's no metal in an arcade game. No recycling value in particle board. Usually they just get smashed up and tossed in dumpsters.

Yeah I was just going to say. Because those are knock offs anyways. I know blast city from a mile away. Close... but they are off by a lot. Looks very similar though. Chinese are known for replicating everything. But then again when every country just about, hands them their damn templates for their said product. AND outsources their jobs/parts. It's no wonder.

The arcade cabs may have been destroyed due to the strange game laws they have in China.

I wonder how many actually good games are destroyed or saved each year?

I once found a Centipede in a friends scrap yard. He let me take it and I used it for a Atari 2600 and then later burned it. I sold the board on ebay untested and guess it didn;t work as I never got any feedback. No telling how long it had been outside.

Thanks Steven
