Why do 510 tubes bolt up into my A48 frames perfect?

Every 20 inch tube I have found fits perfect into the 19 inch frames. Anyone care to explain this? Should I be throwing away my 510's? I mean if the 20 inch tube will fit, will the 19 inch chassis work with them?

You've had better luck than me then. All the A51's I found don't fit in arcade frames. Should work fine for you as long as the tube is a CR23 or CR31 tube.

blind leading the blind...

You boys are silly. He said A48's, which are 19" tubes, just like the 510's. The reason they fit is because they are the same size :p

OP : The # after the "A" - 48, 51, etc., is the diagonal tube measurement in centimeters. 20-inchers are A51's.

To further clarify, since you're referring to 510's, which are probably N* Sanyo's : Sanyo EZ's are 19" tubes. Japanese CRT standards measured the tube from the outside edge, as opposed to the viewable area measurement. So the "20"" Sanyo is actually a 19" tube.

Ah, yes.... I didn't read the title closely, nor did I put that together with the original post.
I simply read 20" and immediately think "A51".....and dat don't equate.

a. 510 = A48 = 19"
but
b. A51 = 20" which does not = 19" or A48

:)

OP- So which tube numbers have you found to fit into the 19" frames ?

And no, don't pitch the 510's unless they are for sure bad.

The 510ABY22 tube is CR-23 and I think I got discouraged and threw this tube away.
