Why didn't the 4 slot Neo Geo have a backlit marquee??

Found this cab for a friend who wanted a 60 in 1. The boards were ripped out and the monitor was gone when I got it. (It is completely restoreable back to a Neo Geo)

After getting it completed. I noticed that it would look much better with a lit marquee. Why did they not do this originally?

(I am talking about the top "NEO GEO" marquee. I know the game sheets had a selectable light behind each one)

Removed the wood piece behind the marquee and installed a florescent light and got this: (looks better in person)

Love the idea what size light did you use? I am guessing you went with a standard flourescent kit?

I used a Walmart 18" complete kit for around $7.50. I cut the end off and wired it to the cab so it powers on with the switch. Also removed the plastic cover off the bulb. The light is attached to the top/back of cab, so it would also light up the 4 mini marquees. If this was to be done on a dedicated 4 slot, then it would not be used to light up the mini marquees because that has its own light already that lights up which game is in play.
