why did they make the games so heavy, and how long till you can't move them?

All my machines have the 3" furniture coasters under them so I can slide them around the arcade room pretty easily.
Moving them in/out of the house or trailer isn't bad once they are up on the dolly and balanced. I'm hitting 50 this year but I'm in decent shape, I go to the gym a couple times a week to move a little weight and mountain bike 2-3 times a week on some rooty singletrack.
That being said I hope to never move an Afterburner UR or MK4 ever again.

Be safe out there ✌🏻

Moving my After Burner up my stairs in my house……

Oh boy. That took myself and my buddy, both mid-20's, both gym rats, together using a Shoulder Dolly, EVERYTHING we had to get it moving… 😮‍💨

I'm 56 now and have been out of the hobby since 2008. I threw my back out when I was bartending and it became a weak point for me. I threw it out one time just by bending over and getting a lid for a pot. Also, my best friend died in 2008 and he and I moved MANY games together and instinctively knew each other's rhythm.

Since 2018, I've been walking with a limp due to pain in my left hip and knee. As the years progressed, so did the pain and now my lower back is normally in pain. I had things checked out and was told it's probably arthritis and just aging. Ugh. I started going to a chiropractor last year, and it really helped a LOT, but when I try to lift something heavy, the body objects. So, I cleared out a lot of items and a few more to go.

Funniest part is that I do better than people who are 10+ years YOUNGER than me! We get a snowfall, I shovel my parking area (about 550 SQFT), my sidewalk, a neighbor's sidewalk (who works odd hours, so I help as much as I can), then I shovel out my elderly neighbor across the street (sidewalk, vehicles, and parking areas). No other neighbor helps out as much, and when a younger one did, they were exhausted while I kept going. I was limping and in pain, but stopping wasn't an option.

Sometimes, you just have to deal with the pain and work through it. As I tell people, the pain will slow me down but it won't stop me.

All about taking care of yourself long term. That's the right attitude there. Also, I'll pour one out for your best friend tonight. 🥃

I am 63 so I have to think before I move anything. I put things on dollies that are being worked on so I can move them around by myself.

I'm in my late 50's ... got two new knees ... don't move games much anymore.

Thankfully , I can still carry an eprom or two ! ;)

Steph

BTW, I joked with my kids that I would be just like the $6M Man
... and they didn't get the reference AT ALL . ( I felt very sad, ... and old !)

Steph,

I hate to say it, but $6 million would barely cover bionic eyelids these days. :)

Stand up or sit down ?

When it was new I put a huge sit down with the moving carriage in my business. To get it in my business I took the carriage off the base, and brought it in in two pieces. Had a glass company remove two windows, moved it in. Replaced the glass. And then reassembled it. As I recall the carriage part took about eight people. Four outside and four inside, to lift it in.

Several times through the years I had to have a glass company remove and put back the glass to get big games in here.
LTG : )

Standard upright. That thing isn't to be trifled with. I wouldn't dare move a deluxe After Burner up flights of stairs 🤣
