Why can't I remove this button?

So I recently got a Ms Pacman cabinet, and on the control panel there is a "Zoom" button. As I understand there was some kind of Zoom mod kit for Ms Pacman at some point. From what I've read the kit came with an orange round button. So I am assuming this button on my control panel is the one that came with the kit. So I guess I don't really want to replace or break the button, I'd like to keep it original.

I would like to remove the button from the control panel temporarily however so I can clean it and the control panel up more easily. For some reason, I just CANNOT get the button to come out. I have worked with similar buttons before, so I thought this button looks something like these from Happ:

I am familiar with the happ ones, and I know that all you basically have to do is twist the bayonet to get it to unlock from the button. But no matter how hard I twist the bayonet on this particular button, it does not move, and does not unlock from the button. I've pushed so hard that I felt like the button might break, and I definitely don't want to do that. So is there something I am missing here? Is there a trick to remove the bayonet from this type of button? If there isn't and you think it's just plain stuck, do you think I could lube it up in some way to get it moving again? If so, what do you suggest I use to get it lubed up and moving again?

Here are a few pictures of the actual button.

Your button is held on by a retaining ring. You need to get a channel locks on that ring and spin it off.

I generally have success breaking these free (and tightening them going the reverse way of how to unscrew lol) by just holding the ring and simultaneously grabbing the lamp fixture and just "unscrewing" it and going the opposite direction with the ring.. it should go. if not, you can use channel locks of course, or Happ makes a wrench for removing those rings.

u need to pull the lamp socket out of the switch housing, and then turn that nut to the left :p

SHIT forgot that step. it's a lot easier when I just do it!

yeah, the way I go about it is how I align all the switches in my fighters the same direction. :D not that I oppose the wrench, it's just... more fun. I think. I wish I had my games within immediate access..

I apologize if my question was not clear. I can get the nut off just fine. I simply cannot get the lighting fixture to twist. That is what I meant by the bayonet earlier. In some places I've seen them refer to this lighting fixture as a bayonet.

Anyway, like I said I've done this before with other buttons, I twist the lighting fixture left and nothing. Will not budge.

Well, I got it out, and broke it in the process. This particular button does not have the little notches that twist on like other similar buttons. Believe it or not, this one just pushes in place and that's all. It was just really caked in there by gross dirt.

Well, shit, guess I'm in the market for a new orange button.
