Why are those replacements LCD monitors for CRTs so frigging expensive?

Ya they are expensive. I really don't see why we would need 16:9 crap for older 4:3 games. Most of those are Tri-Sync though, they'll grab CGA/EGA/VGA/SVGA, pretty much any particular arcade video input besides vector lol. I don't know why they just stopped making CRTs, there would still be a business for them, the technology has improved....they can be recycled so its not so harmful to the environment. Sure LCDs are like energy efficient, lighter, easier to mount and maintain, but seriously it ruins the visual experience of the games. If I want an LCD, I want it for a TV or newer generation game console, not an older arcade cabinet.

I know they are suposed to be 'industrial strength' but still.. Look at this: http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49286100.htm , Why are they selling 16:9 monitors for 4:3 games? It's going to look like crap! Also they are vga only?

My ***guess*** would be that ven though the monitors are 16:9 the resolutions being used are 4:3 and I'd hope that the monitor circuitry is smart enough to draw that signal at the appropriate non scaled aspect and just leave black bars where necessary, like a HDTV displaying a non widescreen DVD. I would assume they do this in order to use the same LCD panels for multiple products with the main difference being mounting and control circuitry.

But that's a total guess with no evidence to back it up!
