Who's the EM oddities expert around here? My guess all 50's stuff.

So i was asked to go look at some games, i usually am pretty good at valuing pins and arcade machines with searches here or pinside, but these appear to be 50's (i think) gambling and trade stimulators. The owner of all these machines passed away and he was clearly an enthusiast. Gambling seems to be the theme as for there were quite a few slot machines. Everything small and easy to move was going to certain family members (which included all slot machines). The large stuff, some of which is really cool, nobody has a clue what to do with, including me.
One could be a gem i can't even find a picture of by Star Amusement Company called Hot Rods. The mechanicals inside were like a work of art.
Problem is all this stuff is large and wide, which is probably why no family members wanted it. A few horse racing games too.

I'm not really looking to buy or sell any of it, just like to get in touch with the right people so it doesn't land up in a dumpster.

I still can't post pictures here unfortunately, what is you guys preference to work around that problem?
I took a few, i didn't go nuts or move the owner's stuff around, very much of this has other things on top of them.

Let's see if this works, it's a screenshot as suggested in the Pic problem thread.
Edit: appears to work, but what a pain.

That thing is cool but only appeals to a small population. What is your end goal?

No real end goal for myself. Be nice that some of the stuff lands up in the hands of others that care about it. Tomorrow I'll post a few more pics of other machines there.
I feel like the size and age of all of it is going to make it tough to find new owners.

The New Jersey metro area is quite huge. It should be not that hard to find a home for them. If they are trash bound, buy them cheap and flip them.

Supposedly they are going to do an estate sale (found that out after I made the original post) with whatever is left that nobody takes. I don't do much flipping and typically will only flip machines I want to own and play with for a while. I also like my garage clear and I can't imagine getting this stuff into my basment.

Never been to an estate sale, so I have no idea the reach.

Estate sales around here have a massive following. One had a beat up DK. They wanted an ungodly amount of money for it. I kept my comments to myself. I asked later and found out that they got their price for it.

If it is working, they will get some good money out of it. The non-working ones will still go out the door if the price is right.

yeah, super cool to see this one pic you posted. Do you have a link to the estate sale so we can see more pics?
Rod90 is right and sadly there aren't many who love these.

The place still has to be cleaned out and organized, my neighbor told me another week or so. Then they will do the estate sale (however it's done).

Estate sales around here are well-attended, but not many arcade games turn up. Other stuff (tools, kitchen, garage) does.

I picked up a chop saw for $25.

The people running the auctions have a pretty darn good idea what their stuff is worth, and they price it accordingly. However, if the rest of the collection is like what you posted, they may not know, so it depends what they think they can get out of it. If the family has little passion, it may go cheap.

Interested to see what other gambling games they had/have. The car one is very cool. I would totally rock that in my collection.

I just found out estate sale is this weekend.

Also I bought the flipperless pinball/gambling machine they had. 1936!

Crazy thing, it works and pays out money.
It shows really well, but there are few flaws, wrong legs, wrong balls. But it's cool.
