Who's had a past buyer try to sell a game back to you ??

So back in June of last year I got a hell of an offer on my Multi-Neo machine for over double what I paid for it. It wasn't for sale at the time but I thought to myself, if I don't take this offer now I'll never get close to what I'll want if I decide to sell it later. I told the guy I'd think about it and two weeks later decided to sell it. Fast forward almost eight months later to now and I have been thinking about that machine allot since then. I wasn't really regreting selling it because I replaced it with a grail I had wanted for a long time but I missed how universal it was. Last week I was perusing CL and came across an ad for a multigame. It was my old NEO machine!!!! I sent an email to the guy telling him that I was sorry to see he was selling it already and that I hoped he had enjoyed it. He responds back and tells me that he enjoyed it for the first month and then the novelty just wore off and he was tired of looking at it. He then tells me if I still had any attachment to the machine that he would sell it to me "Super cheap". Now being that I sold it to him for a good amount I figured his idea of super cheap is to knock maybe $100 or less of the price I originally sold it to him for. NOPE!!! Surprisingly he offered it to me for the same price I originally bought it for!!! Needless to say I picked it up the same day and it is now back in the gameroom where it will stay.

Anyone here have similar stories of a buy back on the same exact machine that you used to have but missed owning?

I sold a dedicated mint Mortal Kombat 3 to a friend on YouTube. A little while later I snagged a dedicated mint Mortal Kombat 1 and threw a computer in it to play all the MKs in one cabinet. Shortly there after I put it up on Ebay and the same guy bought it too.

The thing is that he told me he didn't want the MK3 anymore and actually asked if I just wanted it back. Needles to say, I said "hell yes!" When he came to pick up the Multi MK1, he brought the MK3 back and gave it to me.

Basically, the money that he paid me for the MK3 the first time around I got to keep and got the cabinet back for free. He ended up paying for two cabinets in the long run and only kept one. That's my story.

Sold off my Satans Hollow to a fellow KLOVer a while ago. Then some time later was offered it back toward a Pinball I had. So not only did I get my Satans Hollow back, but I also got a grail I wanted, Indiania Jones System 1 game.

I sold a Galaga to a local guy-

Here, a couple of years later, I dig up a CL ad and I call. We get to talking and I realize it was my game. It isn't working now and he got a lot of calls.

I wind up going over there and tweaking it for him to get it booting again. He said if he gets tired of it again, he'll call me up.

I sold a friend my Getaway Pin in 2000 and bought it back in 2010. I paid him more than he bought it for, but there was 10 years in there and he had fixed the beacon motor. It was cool to know it was the exact same game I shopped on Memorial day in 2009.

When he was trying to sell it at the Allentown show, I told him that if no-one bought it, it was going home with me. And it did!

I have a cabinet in my arcade that I bought, sold to a friend for double, then re-bought it for half, then resold it back to the same friend again for 4 times the price.

It's still sitting in my arcade - it never left.

Nice! You essentially rented the game to him for 8 months for the profit you got... and now, if/when you need to sell it again, you can make a few bucks more!

So far, the closest I have come is with a Joust I sold to a guy a couple of years ago. It was his first arcade game. A couple of months ago, he called me up and asked if I wanted any of his games as he was getting divorced. I asked about the Joust and he said his soon-to-be-ex was keeping it. After a few minutes he admitted that all the rest of his games were really projects and the Joust was the only one that worked. Since I was low on space and cash with the holidays coming I suggested he post them on CL. When he did, I was glad I didn't go look at them, they were pretty beat up.

repurchase

i have purchased a few games with an understanding that if i was to resell, i would give them (the seller) first dibbs. not happened yet, but i have bought games with this handshake.

Sold a Wizard of Wor to a guy and bought it back for the same price.
It was nice when I sold it, same condition when I got it back.

The guy is now top dog at my work, so the benefit of the "loan" was a good one!!!

Bad part is that I then sold it later on EBay to a guy in Columbus.
That machine counted as 2 of my 4 Wizard of Wor purchases!

[your welcome!
