I just got a broken one on eBay for a good deal and plan on fixing it.

I've got a lot of fond memories of playing Vectrex games at the house of a friend of the family when I was a kid. A few classic vectors were on the Vectrex as well (Cinematronics stuff mainly).

Anyone else?

I have two. Very fun little system. I don't remember it at all as a child, but discovered it many years back. Picked up a bare system on eBay and then bought a PS2 joystick that was modded to work with the Vectrex. Later I picked up another complete system from a friend that had it in his closet since he was a kid.

Yep, I've got one with a bunch of games and overlays. Mine's in great shape but I haven't played it much. I plan on building an upright cab for mine next year.

Just played mine for the first time in awhile. Sold my Star Castle after getting a Vectrex.

There is a new Vectrex IOS app that's really well done.

I have one, played it all the time BITD. The Mind sweep game was actually my fav on the Vectrex. I have recently purchased some of the new home brew games, Sundance, Warrior, and War of the Worlds, pretty cool stuff!

Nutball thx for the hint on the app, just downloaded it!

Broodwich met up with some crazy broads off CL and picked up one for me for $30.

I am glad he didn't get rapped by them. Thanks Broody! :D

Nice idea to make a cab for it. I was looking at building an arcade-quality controller for mine, but analog arcade sticks are expensive... I'm going to try modding an old PC joystick instead.

I can't get the Vectrex app to work. Always crashes on me.

I've never owned one but the few times I've played them I was impressed, even the built in game Minestorm is a lot of fun. It's a pity the system didn't catch on more, but at least now they seem treasured by the collecting community.

Just thinking out loud... I wonder how tough it would be to repro a Vectrex board? I've seen pictures of the motherboard and relatively speaking they don't seem too complicated. Are there any custom chips that can't be duplicated? Obviously the monitor would probably be the toughest thing to get around, it seems to me I've heard that attempts to make them work on normal B&W arcade monitors have failed because Vectrex hardware doesn't have enough speed to keep up with them.

A 3rd-party company made a coin-up countertop version of the Vectrex BIID. One was on sale for $300 or so on CL a few years ago.

I've got one and we love it, Berzerk is excellent as is Scramble and most of the other titles. I don't have the multi cart but I do have a bunch of carts & overlays.

Mine started out looking like this:

During the cap kit & buzz elimination upgrade (that shielded white cable):

And after some work looked like this:

I've got one with a multicart and a few of the more recent homebrew games. Fun little system! Looks good next to an iPad with iCade setup.

Is the whole cable new, or did you just put shielding on it? Looks like a good mod.

That's a whole new cable made from co-ax. The modification is well documented but the site won't allow me to directly link the article from: http://www.playvectrex.com/

Go to "VECTECH" and scroll to the bottom of the page to the link titled, "Quiet Vectrex".

It's a bit involved but well worth the effort and you may as well do a cap kit while you've got it all apart. These little machines are awesome and deserve to be saved & enjoyed.
