Who's auction is this in Johnson City, TN? 450+ arcade games

One of the Carnivals has a Raspberry Pi boot screen in the photo.

As i said, plenty of games in this lot are counterfeits. As a matter of fact, most of these were made by Guscade. Here's just a few i found casually drinking coffee while waiting for my flight.

I would hope that anyone spending hundreds (probably thousands when the hammer drops) would be able to tell the difference between a reproduction and an original.

For a few of those, it wouldn't bother me one bit so long as the price made sense. And clearly after seeing some of these early bids, they don't seem to care.

It would really suck for someone to drop a high four figure sum on something only to find out it's just an empty cabinet with a raspberry pi inside.

Yeah, sadly the number of internal pics are lacking on a lot of those cabs.

Also, it makes you wonder if this sale is a result of someone's death or other unforeseen circumstance. It seems unlikely that someone with a collection this large would just up and sell it all, and through an auction company, to boot. This was someone who obviously knew a thing or two about games, from the rare titles. Hoarders like us don't usually just up and sell everything this way.

Then again, if it was an op, I could also see them deciding to retire and get out of the game, if they were more about money than games. That would also explain why they aren't a known person in the collecting community, which seems to be the case.

I heard a rumor that a bunch of them went to the owner of the Gatlinburg Pinball Museum (and Space Needle arcade). Wonder if it might be the same person selling.

I was just in Gatlinburg a couple of months ago, and saw that arcade. It was actually pretty interesting, for a redemption joint.

I also saw a note that the Pinball Museum was moving next door? I saw that interesting building with the keyhole-shaped windows up the street and thought it must have had a story behind it. When I googled it to see what it used to be, I found an article that the museum was moving in. Seems like a perfect location. But there didn't seem to be a ton of activity in the building.

6 days left in the auction, I doubt the prices are going to stay low.

I would wager that there are multiple collections here that are being auctioned off all at once.

BTW, if anyone here gets the 7up spot game (it's not a very fun game but it's ultra-rare) i would really appreciate it if you can send me pics along with the model and serial number on the back. Not only is it a rare game, it's also bundled in a rare green Dynamo HS-2. Actually the Dynamo is in the last major revision of the HS-2 known. The only other game bundled in this particular HS-2 is Sega G-LOC.

I haven't been in a few years now. The Pinball Museum was up the hill from the Space Needle.
I just googled, and found mention on pinside about the Pinball Lounge was in the bottom floor of the Space Needle, now you saw a note that said it was moving next door. (which sounds like to me was the old Museum space). I was told when i was at the museum, that the same person owned the museum and the space needle arcade.
Fwiw, that arcade was kick-ass bitd. 2 floors of nothing but real arcade games. One of the first places i saw a Cockpit Spy Hunter.

Yeah, I got the impression that arcade was something amazing back in the day. You could tell from the building.

The whole town has remnants of 80's nostalgia everywhere. So much 70's and 80's-era architecture that hasn't been redeveloped, as it has across most of the country.

I went in that Mountain Mall, and it was like a freaking time portal. The real parquet floors and *still working* waterfalls were a trip. All that was missing was an Orange Julius. It even smelled like the 80's. I was like, 'This place HAD to have had an arcade, BITD.' Then I found this thread, which suggests it did:

If anyone is ever in Gatlinburg, and you want to time travel, check that mall out.

I haven't been up there in at least 40 years, but I remember that arcade, and yes, it was kick ass.

GusCade?

Turns head, spits.

Yuk!

My understanding is that the majority of this stuff is from the Gatlinburg Pinball Museum which opened in 2019 and closed in 2023. They had already done a big sell off last year of the more common stuff via facebook marketplace. Some of these same machines are still listed over there. The Maneater for instance had a price tag of around 25 grand with no takers.

Thanks, Cameron. Jeff Willard told me the same this morning.
So some of these games are from the Banning CA auction then?
Didn't he buy over 100+ games from that auction?
Sorry to see the museum close. Never made it down to check it out.

Anybody want to fess up to what they are bidding on? I was thinking of making a go at that Pong machine. Doubt i will pay what others might but they never pop up on this side of the country.

I'm bidding on :
Space dungeon. (Been on my list over 10 years)
Naughty boy cocktail
Beezer
And on the fence about a few others

Aside from the LCD, is there a quick way to pick out the repros? What do you see when you look at these?
