Whoa, GORF's a Cool Game

Mine also had a switcher in it when I bought it and the lights are all out so now I have another reason to go ahead and rebuild the PS. Mine also has a bad monitor in it (just needs a cap kit I believe) and my speech worked when I bought it but when I got it home speech was out. A bare to keep running but a fun game when it does!

I watched the attached vid and for what ever reason, this game just didn't wow me. I'm glad for those of you who have it you enjoy it though.

Also, this game was one of the 7 used for the '82 Worlds Fair coins.

Decent game but can get boring because it maxes out its difficulty too early and can be a chore to play after that

Oooh this is good to know. I have never personally played it, but love the artwork! I keep seeing them on craigslist and wasn't sure it was worth the $$$. Gonna have to pick it up.

Ok.. Back in the day I didn't play Gorf. Mainly because not any of the arcades around my area had one. I only saw one down at the little arcade at the beach resort we went to. I gravitated toward playing Galaga. To me Gorf gameplay seemed sort of slow.. and oddly I think thats part of what added to its difficulty. It didn't play like other shooters.

Geeze you guys are making me rethink not having one. LOL

Ahh yes, the summer of '81 ... I remember hopping on the ol' blue Schwinn 10 speed and pedalling over to the Germantown (TN) Village Square Mall many a hot day. There was a great arcade there, but I can't remember it's name. That was the time Gorf became one of my first fav's. Not only is that arcade long gone, but so is the mall.

Well, I'm almost finished with the restoration of this sweet game. Not only is it fun, it's really great looking too. Cannot wait to add it to the line up:

The only Gorf around when I was growing up was at Ace Hardware. They had it for YEARS though... and I must have pumped at least a hundred bucks in to that damn game.

Gorf is a very good game... the haters either (A) suck or (B) never played or (C) played too much and the game got too simple.

AWESOME restoration Phet.... as usual.

Another great restore, Phet. Gorf is a sleeper, as Cleverly J, put it. Line was long for it at Videotopia, last year. Many folks, including my b-in-law, walked away from it with praises. Also, the usual response was, "I dont remember seeing this game, BITD". Definite classic.

I mean I am not sure how I coulda missed this game in an arcade BITD. With a few more details this cabinet coulda been as sweet as a TRON. Still, as it is, it's hard to miss it in a line up of regular 'Lit Marquee Only' games:

I played Gorf all the time back in the day. It was popular.

In many ways, it was the game TRON should have been.
