It was just announced on RGP, Twitter and Facebook (none of which I am on), but it's not on the
website yet. We're getting a press release together for the web site as I write this, and it will be posted as soon as possible. (Edit: see dan10things' post below mine for the winner. Also, it's on the
website now.)
The deadline to enter was April 30 and the drawing was done on May 2. The winner has been notified and they confirmed they will be able to attend, so if you didn't hear from dan10things, the show's marketing coordinator, then you didn't win, sorry. It's not my place to announce the winner, and I'm only saying this here now so that those of you who are on the fence about whether or not you can attend can now plan accordingly, rather than having to wait to see if you won a free trip.
Hope to see a ton of KLOVers there regardless. This year's show is going to be bigger than ever. Normally we have the largest room only on Saturdays and we have, for the last two years, used it just for the seminars. This year we have that room for all three days, which is adding about 4000 square feet of space for the show. This means we can accommodate lots more games, and we are doing our damndest to do just that. Also, the plan this year is to do away with the dedicated 'pins' and 'vids' rooms. All three rooms will have both pins and vids in an effort to promote more traffic flow throughout and to address crowding issues from previous years.
The pins appear to be lagging somewhat at the moment but the vids are seriously threatening to bust 200 this year. (We had about 135 vids last year.) Until now we've been very focused on vids from the '70s and the early-to mid-'80s, but this year we're also going to have more newer vids from the '90s, including shmups and for the first time, racers. Barring any unforeseen catastrophe we will have
five (5) Daytona USA sit-downs linked together. It's gonna be nuts.
