Who won the SW upright off the auction site down by Kalamazoo, MI?

There was an Auction a few weeks ago for a SW upright. Looked to be a nice machine but they wouldn't say whether it was working or not. Just wondering who got it and if it worked.

If it was the one in Grand Rapids (through an online bid process) I pretty much got in a bid war with the guy that won. He and I went bid for bid up in to the $550+ and then I bailed. I already have one and they could not tell me anything about the insides of the game as far as functionality.

That was me... Had the chance to check it out in person and everything was there (but no ability to plug it in) so I went for it. Initially it only played blind, then replaced a fuse on the monitor and it worked. I'm presently having an issue with the monitor cutting out (which is detailed pretty extensively with video in the repair threads) and will likely send the monitor to Chad to get rebuilt.

That aside, couldn't be happier. Bought it expecting the worst and it's cleaned up really nice. Was more than a little surprised when I plugged it in that first time and heard "May The Force Be With You". :]

Just saw your post Wiz - sorry about that.... I had a pretty high number in there (but still within reason) as it was a "grail" and this was likely my only chance for picking one up anytime in the foreseeable future.

Thanks for cutting out when you did! :]

Congrats on the win. I would have bid on it myself but they wouldn't tell me anything about the game. I asked them what happens when you plug it in and they told me they haven't tried it. All I could think was how hard is it to plug the damn thing in to see if it works. Bah.

Oh, one other thing. So how was the machine overall? Pics didn't show much. Was just wondering the condition of the cab.

The machine had about a half inch of dirt and dust all over it, but it was clean inside. The cabinet, artwork, etc. are all in nice shape and have cleaned up nicely. I'll post some pictures later when I get home.

As far as plugging it in on the spot, where it was positioned there were no plugs anywhere in sight and the warehouse it was in was really busy with constant traffic. It would have been a headache to try to make happen.

I can see where they might have responded with that as a lot of what was happening there seemed to be related to cars, boats, etc. and I could see where plugging the game in wasn't a priority to them (I had a hard time understanding this before seeing it in person).

Cool, congrats on the score. It looked to be in pretty nice shape. Are you by chance from the St.Joe/Lakeshore area? Your name on the bidding site sounded very familiar. Anyway, glad it worked out for you. Definitely a grail game, and had I not recently scored one already, I would have really gone for it. Sounds like you got a nice deal on a game you really wanted, which is always good!

Did either of you guys win the Space Invaders cocktail? Just curious if that one worked.

huh, i missed this thread somehow. seems all the klov'ers were bidding against each other. I was in on it since it's 2 mins around the corner from work and i know leinhit was in on it as well. nice to see a klover got it.
