who will get your games when you\'re gone?

Will the kids continue on where you've left off? Will the machines regress back to the dusty unlit state you found them in? Is the nearest klover counting the days till your death, so he can buy your lineup for a song?

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

Its a fair question.

I plan on selling most of mine off and giving one each to any of my relatives that has shown any interest in them. I also plan on giving one to my best friend.

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

I have thought about it before. My wife is not into them, and its not like I have an expensive collection. I told her I wanted my close friends to come by and each get a game for themselves.

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

my parents and kid will cherry pick what they want. the rest gets taken to auction and sold. The wife will never play em.

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

It doesnt matter. I guess maybe my child(ren). I told my wife, if something happens to me, sell them and get whatever cash you can. I also told her, that this is my hobby, its for me, so dont keep them unless your gonna enjoy them cause when im gone i aint gonna miss em

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

My wife hates them and my kids are indifferent. I suspect she will call Mldawson to come over and liquidate/sell/auction the collection and use whatever money she gets for a nice vacation.

I was thinking, I would have them hall one (have not determined which one yet) and as you give me your last respects, you gotta play a game for me! That or just have a bunch of shots lined up, and as you walk by to your last respect take one.

Honestly, I'll be dead, what do I care?

Did that Trivia guy hack your account?

I couldn't reply to this thread earlier in the day, but when I saw this I cracked up.

Not being able to reply to existing posts sucks (my phone will allow me to do new posts, and send IM's, but the browser chokes when trying to reply to existing ones- go figure! It's like reading KLOV while being duct taped and gagged to a chair.

I never really answered this for myself: currently the lien on the Ms Pac is held by my daughter, but now that my son was just born, there's a new sherriff in town.. we may need to re-subdivide the garcade

I also have a few friends who like the games, but really only one (mayyyyyybe 2) who I know would truly appreciate having one of my games, so we'll see who lives the longest and I'll go from there!

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

I have another worry: Nobody here (or any of the other arcade related forums I visit) will probably KNOW that I'm dead because no-one will post that here....

(Reminds me of the time that I had to replace a guy who was hired by a company who suddenly died at a very young age. It was WEIRD. Had to answer a whole array of e-mails for that guy......one e-mail was best not seen by his wife.......and that was a hard reply to write......) Back on topic:

There was a guy at the BYOAC forum who made some pretty nice inserts for translucent buttons. At once he vanished and never posted again......

I'd like to be buried in my Star Wars Cockpit and put the marquee up as a stone

Just kidding. The thought did cross my mind. My son is very interested in them now, but he's 6 and I guess that could change when he's older. I have some friends over here who I would like to give a couple of machines. On the other hand, the collection sold at once maybe just enough to get me a proper coffin

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

i don't know. when we're gone, assuming we live to be old men, who will really remember these games? i'll probably just give up and cut up my cabs and burn them when i'm in my 70's to save on the ass gouging cost of natural gas for heat. (assuming the world hasn't gone up in flames by then...)

Re: who will get your games when you\'re gone?

If I go before the wife...she can sell them off as she pleases. If I go after her.....I will either donate them to a charity or bequeath them to some KLOV members who have helped me out in the past or taught me the art of repair.

Great question! The current plan is sometime betweek 72 and 144 hours after my death a Semi-truck w/ liftgate will roll up and load the entire housecade, heading to an open field and assemble all cabinets into a stacked pyramid. My corpse will be strapped to a hellcade somewhere up top in the center. All 50 machines arranged in a pyramid should be at least 25 feet tall and more in diameter! One 55 gallon drum of gasoline will be poured from the top and my Star Trek cockpit with a Sega G08 monitor will be set next to the stack and plugged in via extension coord. With all the scare stories of the G08's it aught to be one hell of a show in no time!!

ROFLMAO!! In all seriousness, if I were to go tomorrow I'm not exactly sure what would happen. My parents would come in, they'd keep my Space Mission pinball and maybe a few of the classics my mom likes. The rest would likely be distributed among my friends through my parents, if they wanted a specific game, and then the rest would hit criagslist or be sold to someone random.

Of course, my "dream" is to live a long life and enjoy the games. Hopefully someday years down the road, have a nice little private arcade museum setup somewhere and allow visitors to come and step back into 1990 or whatever era they enjoy. Maybe charge a few bucks a head for repairs and have all the games on freeplay. By that time, year 2044, (Robotron will be 60 years old!!) hopefully my Billy Mitchell, Brian Kuh and Steve Wiebe animatronic robots will be complete and ready for cutting the ribbon at the grand opening!

Yeah but your Robo will still read 2084 down the side, so you'll still be ahead of the game!
