I messed around with vids for years before joining, as a matter of fact i would go to klov to research a game before i bought it and never even glanced at the forum section. I was selling a game on CL and this dude calls me about it (i forget which game?) and say's "hey, you ever here of klov?" I tell him i use it as kind of a research tool, he says "you should check out the forums!" the rest is a furtunate history. his screen name is katanajoe, he doesnt post much. funny thing is he's local and ive talked to him on the phone but never met the guy. Just curious how yall got started?

The guy I bought my tron cocktail from told me about it.
Pretty pleased about that I must say.

I bought my first game on ebay from Cptnrick in Arkansas. Drove 9 hours straight that night to get it and he told me about KLOV. That was in 2002 and the game was Altered Beast. So like you I only used the site to reference game info throughout the years and never looked at the forums until last year. I can't believe the amount of information I missed out on for 8 years. I have gained so much knowledge within the past year and met a lot of great people thanks to this place. The forums really expanded my knowledge and appreciation for this hobby. Plus my collection quadrupled in the past year. :)

Russ Myers searched for a Asteroids Deluxe cardboard backdrop for me here, found one, then I became a member and bought it from a fellow klov'r.....

I think it was HerbertSmart (dean) that contacted me when I had a bunch of games for sale. Soon after or around the same time FullThrottle (karl) had contacted me via email about games I was selling. He informed me that the game list I had emailed dean was up and people were talking about it.

I had only used klov for a database and stuck to rgvac and rgvam for posting for sale and game related discussion. Didn't know there were forums within klov. Once I heard the forums had a noice and a phet, there was no reason not to join the party.

My life's been ruined ever since.

I think I was here from day 1.... or at least close to it. (note my join date) :) That was back when this place was just a vast wasteland of Leslie Collins posts. Hahaha...

I too use to use the museum for reference to pin-outs, manuals, and other game info. i noticed the link to the forums the day i made my vaps account and don't know how i lived without this place. (i went years without finding the forums, i guess when i turned 30 i got smart lol).

I still want a T-Shirt (whens someone gonna get those back in stock!).

the good ole days of nuthin but corba comnad

am kol.

LOL! I think Prok remembers those days on here too! haha In fact I think that's how he got his name "prok". It was originally "pork tornado" or something in the D-L-P chat room and Leslie kept calling him Prok rather than Pork. lol

Always the authority on Video Game info and images. Took over from RGVAC when I took a break from collecting... VAPS moving here was a big statement that this was the place to be...

actually....

klover keith mitchell turned me onto this site (the forums section) back in 2007. i havent seen keith on this site in quite sometime. keith where are you??

i remember one day we were talking on the phone and he says "chris, you gotta go on the klov forums. they are talking bout that computer space that was listed on the local craigslist. thats the one you got right?"

a big muchas gracias to him for gettin me hooked on da klov.

Back when I had only a Pole Position, it quit working properly one day. So I went to google to find a fix and found this place.

That was a good thing.

:)

well, my first idea was to build a multicade cabinet, but i had no idea what jamma was or anything, no experience in working on arcade machines, so i did lots of research to figure out what i was getting myself into. i went to byoac but that seemed equally foreign, and most projects i saw seemed to expensive. i have a friend in the computer biz, and he hooks me up with old computers for free whenever i need one. eventually i realized the cheapest route would be to get a nonworking generic game cab, but i could not find one locally. at the same time a friend hooked me up with a semi working centipede cocktail. i came here as a result of google, looking for someone to help me with fixing it. well, i didnt have the money to get the board repaired and in the meantime i discovered mame and built a control panel and had a computer configured for it.

thats when i lost my job. i was confronted with a pile of parts and no working cabinet. i decided to trade the centipede for an empty cab so i could put the mame junk into it and play some games. i tried to find a buyer who would restore it, made it a point to show pics of the inside and the game partially working, but eventually the only guy who came through with a cabinet to trade admitted he was gonna gut and multi it. i wish i could have hung onto it until i had the cash to fix it, but at the time it was taking up alot of room, i didnt have any money, and i figured a mame cab that worked was a better option than a broken cocktail and pile of parts.

Before I actually owned any games, I'd frequent the KLOV database for fun and for research (I first stumbled across the site via Google).

I thought it would be really cool is KLOV had a forum, so I googled "KLOV forums." And sure enough, it existed. After lurking for about a year, I finally signed up.
