structured service to learn to fix arcade PCBS

If you are interested in learning repair but need a little more structured help. I offer the following service.

I am willing to fix a PCB board, then break it in 3 separate ways that are common, instructional and non-artificial (ie things you'd really expect to see and can learn from) they also will be non-overlapping breaks (ie one break won't conflict or effect you from finding the others etc) and provide you with PM assistance in finding the issues if you get stuck

This service would require you have a fluke 9010A and the required POD for the game you want to learn on and a logic probe.

I could also do a similar thing for people with an HP 10529A and a logic probe. (but no fluke)

Contact me for current pricing, which will depend on the board you want to try to fix.
Any chance you are still providing this service 9 years later?? lol What a great idea!

I was being quite serious. I saw your post was dated 2012 and I found it while searching for someone to fix my Mario Bros boards. I have never come across anyone that offered such a thing and thought it was a really good idea.

fcc352 sorry right now I don't have the ability to do that anymore in terms of time or actual broken centipede PCBs as I've fixed most of my stock and also sold a buch of boards to peopel that just wanted to try on their own.. There were a few people that took advantage of it when I did it, I wish more did I thought it was a great thing and a fun way of learning in a more structured and guided way.

if anyone else wants to take up the mantle. I know alot of people in the last 10 years have come into the hobby and learned to repair. (I truely hope I helped many of them learn)
for anyone interested in trying this idea
1) get alot of boards of one type (at one point I was getting centipede boards for about $5 shipped on average (in bulk)) that's the hard part especially now a days
2) fix the boards
3) break the boards that simulate common failures (usually in very strategic trace cuts/bridges, or breaking things (like breaking the crystal) and such. (putting in bad RAM is a great thing if you can do it in a consistent way)
4) take pictures of what you did and write up notes on how to fix,
5) break all the boards in the same way so you don't forget "who got what breaks"

I have a high end laser cutter/etcher. If anybody needs custom name plates or pinball plastics, given the proper graphics files, I can produce them for you. Mainly just looking to give back to the community so if you cover my expenses, I can do small runs.
