Hello to the veterans on this forum,

I ordered some T-Molding from www.t-molding.com, but it's not as bulky as the original molding on this 1997 cabinet. The original stuff is thicker and more rubbery, and generally more expensive looking.

I'd appreciate it if anybody could tell me whether the stuff from Happ, Twisted Quarter, or Quarter Arcade will be better. I'd like to order from Twisted, since they have other useful stuff I need.

Pretty much.....anyone selling t-molding....is selling the same stuff. It all comes from Outwater Plastics.

I know what you mean. All the replacement t-molding I've ever got is more plastic-y feeling than the original, and often has a slightly different shape. Especially with Atari cabs - the original t-molding on my Dig Dug and Missile Command definitely has a different profile and is more rubbery than the new stuff.

The original molding I measured at 13/16", and I ordered the same in smooth, but it's slightly narrower than the original, especially in the groove. So it would take far too much packing to fit tightly.

I've decided to use 7/8" since it should be a better fit. Even the original molding was a bit narrow. BUT, I really need it in the old, thicker, more rubbery style if I'm to avoid using a load of packing or glue.

Edit: The cabinet is a 25" upright from Electrocoin UK. It's the type they used for SEGA Model 2 games like Virtua Fighter 2.

I guess if all T-Molding is from the same manufacturer then there's not much point in searching, but maybe the UK is different?

I just bought some t-molding for my pac man off ebay from Novacade for a brand new 20ft roll 3/4 smooth, orange $13 shipped to my door. That is the best price I have found. T-molding .com for the same color and length wanted $18.95 shipped. Novacade has plenty of colors.

The 7/8" t-molding I got from Twisted Quarter was naturally wider than the 13/16", but it also had a wider insertion piece, so it needed less packing to get into the slot.

The insertion piece wasn't quite as wide as that of the original rubbery molding, but it was longer.

Though now the fact that the 7/8" sticks out a little around the edges creates problems with inserting the glass, but it's the price I had to pay to get molding that held in the slot.

This is annoying that the new t-molding won't fit into the slots tightly. I haven't had a problem with Atari and Midway cabinets, but it seems to be an issue with Williams?
