I'm thinking of running my games on tokens , does it work pretty good for you ? Do the slots get jammed alot ?

i run 25mm.. you have to modify some quarter slots but they are more quarter-like and you can modify most 25 cent coin mechanisms to accept them so the big factor is that you can modify what you have versus having to swap out mechs.

or you could run 23.5mm ones.. no modification to slots necessary but you will need to get the proper token mechs...

Yes, sometimes they jam.. the black imonex mechs work best for either ...

I made a tutorial on modding games to use the 25mm ones.. ill try to dig it up.. its here and on rotheblog.....

noice is thew man to get the tokens from.. great prices and its always good to supporrt a fellow klover

I'm working on converting all my games to tokens with modified quarter mechs. Got my tokens from Noice for a good price. Also have a Token changer that I need to get running to complete the project.

I run tokens in my gameroom, and I don't have much trouble with jamming or rejecting. Sometimes it takes a bit of tweaking even after I think I have them right and get them installed though. Nintendo mechs are the most difficult in my experience but I did a writeup on them in the mech conversion thread.

I run .900 tokens on all my games and love it. I do have a few mechs that jam a lot because I have no real .900 mechs, I just rigged a bunch of quarter mechs. I love using them though, I just need to tweak a handful of the mechs.

I run tokens too. Sometimes my Centipede jams, but in the area that the coin rolls down before droppiing in to the mech.
I also have my Coke machine set on a token.

Yep I use .984 which is 25 mm tokens. I use to buy the happ coin mech that work with both quarters and .984 tokens but now because they want $25.00 each for new ones I just adjust regular quarter mechs to work with .984 tokens and I keep a big can full of tokens. They work great but go fast so get a bunch of them. I love the sound of dropping in a coin or token to play a game and every so often I get to play operator and empty the coin boxes. I just don't know why coin mech's cost so much money. I say go for it.:D

As soon as I have a decent stockpile of Showbiz Pizza tokens saved up that I snag at work, I am going to be converting my games to run on .984 tokens.... :D

I've hacked a few mechs to take anything, and I've got them in my pin right now. I like that a lot, but I need to work out some token storage, so everyone else can use it as well.

I have one game that runs on tokens and pretty much the rest on quarters. Sometimes guests will mistakenly put quarters in the token game and it jams. Ideally I would want one or the other if you plan on having several guests in your arcade.

All my games take quarters. Except for Frogger, which takes tokens as well as quarters. But I only have 10 or so tokens that will work for Frogger so I only use them for special occasions for good luck. Generally when I'm trying to get a high score.

All my games take tokens. There's just something about putting the coin into the machine that makes it feel real... freeplay is boring on a lot of games, too. having a set # of tokens adds challenge to a lot of games.

i like hearing the coin land in the bucket, too.

i have been switching over my games to .900 tokens and i really like it. a few of them do tend to jam, but that's usually an issue of having the mech and slots properly aligned.

i bought bulk mixed tokens both off of eBay and from noice; the ones from noice were a better deal and had quite a few arcade and related tokens mixed in.

I always wanted to put token mechs in mine but I gave up on spending the money. Instead, I put the ones on freeplay that I could and installed fairly well hidden credit switches on the other two.

agreed, i plan on doing this as well even got a small wall mount changer to hold some quarters/tokens

I run all mine on .900 Tokens since my Change machine only does quarters or smaller without modification or upgrades.

I have several games that are a bit picky, and do jam, but I'll eventually get them dialed in.

Just like BITD, people still blindly feed the machine, even though it's all jammed up. I guess they figure, the first 5 didn't work, maybe the next 5 will work!

I run .900 tokens, which are IMO the best token to use. They seem to work in plastic quarter mechs pretty well without any mods. Metal mechs merely need the cradle bent slightly to catch them.

I have upgraded to actual .900 mechs now. My gameroom is odd at the moment though, because I've been having turnover. Some games - pins especially are just on free play until I have time to mess with mechs. All of my vids still run on tokens though, but paperboy won't accept credits with actual coins for some reason...

I run .984's in all 17 of mine for the last year. No real major issues. I use a BC-25 changer for dispensing the tokens. Really makes the game room pop. Had about 100-150 people come through the game room on Halloween and didn't have any issues other than one jam.

Regardless of what size token or coin, I think it's a huge part of a gameroom to actually take coins. It's all about nostalgia anyway, and dropping that token in and hearing the coin-up sound is part of the experience!
