I have two 4 slot Neo Geo motherboards that are stuck in the test mode and I have followed all previous treads on how to deal with this. replaced the batteries and they are working fine because it is holding the date and time. I have cleaned all connectors on the main boards and on the cartridges several times without any luck. I do not see any bad traces but it is time to send these to a pro and get them repaired.

channelmaniac is pretty much the resident NeoGeo guy on board repair, but he is oftentimes quite busy. You can find a list of what people specialize in the sticky thread in this subforum.

I have been attempting to get in touch with him for the last couple weeks. I did not see anyone else under the sticky that is doing Neo Geo's but thank you for your input. I was hoping that someone may know of a another tech that can repair these.

Check the tracks for corrosion/rust. Unfortunately this is a common problem on the MVS boards, the system is a brilliant design but the quality of the actual PCB's leaves quite a lot to be desired.

Thanks for all the useful info. I'm not afraid to admit that this kind of repair is beyond my capabilities and equipment at this time. I plan on selling my Airborne pinball and buy a top of the line solder and desolder station. In he mean time I will PM some of those members mentioned to see if I can get one of these repaired. I will let you know how I make out. Thanks, again.

Problem fixed

Channelmanic was just too busy. Sent the boards to East Coast Amusements. $125 each, 2 week turn around and they work great. Both had trace damage that I could not see or repair. Thanks for all suggestions.

Wow... I should charge more... that's 2 1/2 times what I charge.

No wonder all my free time gets booked up with board repairs!

What do you charge as I see several for sale on e-pay real cheap and If I buy them can I have them shipped directly to you?

Amount channelmanic charges = x

$125.00 = 2.5 * x
x = $125.00 / 2.5 or $50.00

Therefore channelmanic charges $50.00, although he might change that now. :p

time vs cost=quick sale

I can appreciate That Channelmanic only charges $50 but I tried to get a hold of him via his website and PM and it would have taken way too long. The cab was very nice and I got $650 for it so the $125 was a good investment to make the sale. I did not want to lose the sale.
