I got my Qix cabaret in over the weekend but I guess the PCB did work for a few hours before dying.
Thanks Andre for holding onto this thing and not making it a 60-1. He was too busy to troubleshoot the PCB so I'm looking for suggestions as to someone who'd be willing to take a look?
I'll post up pics as soon as I clear out the wife's 8GB SD card from her camera....

What's Andre' working on that he's so busy?

You might want to specify if there is any battery acid damage. That is the leading cause of death for these and is usually a pain to clean

PCBs didn't look too bad. I actually have two sets of everything as well since he had another spare boardset to go with it. Anyway, my Photobucket is down so the attached pics are the best I can do right now....

Here, got them working now (pictures, not the game). Andre did rebuild the power suppy but that's about all the time he had put into the game. Let me know if you guys think that this is a repairable candidate.

Hey John, here's one of the scoots I'll drive over to your party...

Have you checked voltages? When I had a Qix, I thought the pcb's had problems but it turned out it was mostly the power supply. Rebuilt or not the original Taito's are junk. Same with my Zoo Keeper - I could get ok voltage readings and adjust the power supply per the manual it wouldn't come up. New arcadeshop power supply with adapter it came up first shot. - Barry

I'll do that and see what I come up with. Are there test points on this board I can check them at??

Cpu

First of all, there are LEDs on the CPU.. What are they doing when you turn the game on, and then whats happening when you hit the test switch on the CPU? there is a diagnostic sheet for the LEDs inside the game or in the manual..

Yes, toss that garbage ps and get a replacement.. I'm a fan of Speath's ATX adaptors.. But in a pinch, arcadeshop's product also works well.. Taitos need good voltage!
