Who regrets buying a Tron pin?

Seems like Stern should make some more LEs.

Anyone hear any rumors about that?

There is only one LE on location that I know of - at the Gable House Bowl in Torrance CA. I checked it out when it was fairly new there. I was thinking of heading over there sometime soon to play it and see how its held up under constant play.

there will be no LEs ever made again. there will be no SEs ever made.
people that want the fiber will have to pony up and buy an LE.

I assume it is Stern's policy to not make more LEs if there is demand...I guess doing so sort of defeats the purpose of a Limited Run, and the premium people paid, but still, the demand is there...and they could probably sell out another run of these.

Maybe a slightly different game could be made, possibly improving on the original LE. I guess that would anger LE owners too.

This has been discussed in length over and over on other forums.
Lets just say this. Stern will never make more LEs, PERIOD. They made 400 and that is it.
A bunch of people including myself had conversions with Lyman or Borg about the "special edition" that people were dreaming up. That isn't going to happen either. Stern is moving on to bigger, better, new titles.
They are not investing the money into redesigning the pro. Plain and simple. This is a dead topic.

yeah...i've seen those asking prices. $8K+. jeez. not sure if they're selling for that, but damn, even though i love the pin if someone offered me $8K cash i think i'd have to let her go...

that's a lot of bank.

NIB one just sold for $9k ...HUO's are selling for $8.5

I change my original stance...I REGRET CANCELING MY ORDER! LOL

Boy did you ever hit Jackal's soft spot or what!!! ROFL!

Yeah I agree more games with the LE features would be nice but some of the parts needed to make more are NLA. I don't understand all the hype on this game but I also don't understand the whole super rise in prices across the board either. :)

They have numbered plaques [x of 400] ....how would they make more? Hey, I just bought #450 of 500! LOL

They could just make up plaques for a second edition LE and start at #1. Add some features and make it a little bit different game. Anything is possible. I guess they probably would be shooting themselves in the foot if they did that, especially if it was a "better" game than the LE.

If they were going to make a premium run they should definitely NOT number them. Who cares about the #? It doesn't really mean anything. In my opinion the only thing the Pro is missing are the lighted ramps, everything else that sets the LE apart is not a big deal.

I never got one, but I'd like to pick one up when the price comes down a little bit. I think it's a lot of fun, but I didn't have the extra cash on hand to get one at launch.

I think this reinforces how stupid the whole idea of a substantially different LE model is... Make one game model, and make as many as you can sell.

For all the duds Stern has made, they now have a runaway success and have painted themselves into the corner of not being able to make more and profit from demand.

I disagree.

What Stern did with the Tron LE and the fact that it is such a big hit and the prices being so high is to have this in the back of everyone's mind when the next LE is released "oh, I better pre-order the LE or I won't be able to get one and it will be hard to get later and the price will go through the roof like it did with Tron LE".

Lots of people will have that mindset.....despite what has happened with TF LE. ;)

I agree this concept did get games sold. I will readily admit that when I pre-ordered TF it was because I didn't want my dream theme pin to slip through my fingers as past LE games sold out quickly.

Boy was I taken by the Stern hype machine and the fact that I didn't want to gamble never being able to buy one at a decent price. I was sold on the vids from Stern with the new younger staff members (Like Waison Cheng) who supposedly loved Transformers and were adding a fan's perspective to the game... turns out it was just a marketing gimmick, I don't believe there was any truth to that at all.

Stern may win in the short run but word will get out how they have treated buyers with false advertising, and that it most certainly is, false advertising. I will never buy another Stern pin released after Transformers, they have most certainly lost a customer in me. They should have made one version from the beginning. In my case the gamble hurts worse because of how much I paid for TF. Its a lot of money to sink in one game because of theme. Hopefully this whole debacle is a lesson to new pinball buyers, you should sit on the sidelines and wait until the dust settles before you decide to buy any Stern NIB.

ok...so somebody fill me in here...

i didn't read up on transformers a whole lot because, while it looked really cool and i would have loved to get an LE, i just didn't have the funds and knew there was no way i could get them.

so what's the deal with the transformers pin? specifically with the LE version y'all are talking about??

Hugh and Greg can probably cut and paste from various posts that they have made on the subject. Both of them have been very articulate about the issues, and I would add that they have both also been quite objective with their opinions on TF LE......in my opinion. ;)

i knew some of the fellas here had one...and i know there's a thread on it...but that damn thing is 800 posts long and i don't see myself wading through all of it to try and sort things out. lol.

I only played the TF pro and thought it was okay but really didn't know the game so my opinion is not that informed.

I have noticed people selling their TF LEs though....

As for the "prices coming down" on the Tron LE that might never happen. There were only so many made and it will always be a relatively rare game.

I am sorry this was talked about to death on other forums, but not everyone is on every forum. We'll see if Stern is going on to bigger and better titles. The rumored Facebook pin will rock!!!

He's talking about the sneak peek photos from Borg's new game (probably Xmen or Avengers) on facebook.
