Who regrets buying a Tron pin?

Just curious.........

Who would admit that if they actually bought one?

By the way, I played the Transformers a bunch at the Houston show and I found it to be pretty boring and repetitive. Similar to Avatar, not as bad as The Rolling Stones and probably worse than Tron. I feel sorry for those that plunked down money for Transformers. It's underwhelming IMO.

Why did you cancel?

Cuz I hate the Tron movies. Didn't make sense to spend that much on a theme I hate....especially w/ Transformers, WOZ, and AC/DC on the way. Plus, I know like 10 guys who bought Tron LE, I can play it at their places. :)

Anyone who bought it and didn't like it. You of all people know how opinionated the pinball community is...why would someone not share their opinions? I bought BDK, IM, and WOF new....sold them. There. Yay. Honesty. Woo! :) Wouldn't say I regretted it, though. Had fun while they were here.

1. Avatar and Stones aren't boring and repetitive if they're set up right w/ 3 ball play & you take a moment to understand the rules.

2. You don't like the Transformers theme....theme goes a long way.

3. Don't feel sorry for people who can afford NIB pinballs. They're probably doing alright. ;) Also, you haven't played Transformers LE, so you don't have a point of reference to justify that empathy. :)

Yea, it's easy to say that after you've sold it. While it's still in your possession, if it's a dog, I can understand why someone might not say so.

Personally, I don't see any of the recent Sterns holding their value. I understand you have dogs in the race. I don't. That's not to say I don't want a Stern.. actually I bought a Stern machine Saturday... for $125. *snicker*

But seriously (actually I did buy a Stern for $125), there are a few Sterns I'd like to get, such as TSPP or RBION. I just haven't been impressed with the most recent ones.

Anyone that knows me - i am fickle, and tend to sell games fast if they don't "make the cut" over here. For example, TSPP, LOTR, TAF, HS2, RFM and many others all lasted < 3 months. Space is scarce, need to keep games that get attention.

Preface noted, i've had Tron LE for three months or so now. Its a keeper for sure. Still have lots of fun with it, the shots continue to amaze (especially the inner quorra shot to the upper flipper ramp - the ball returns so smooth). On the LE i still gawk at the colored ramps. It also fits my line up very well, the futuristic robot thing (T2, Iron man, amongst others).

Its Sterns second best, IM is the other.

I bought my Tron LE slightly used from the original owner who didn't care for it all that much. I really liked the pin a lot overall with one major exception: the damn GEM shot.

So much of Tron is smooth and solid (with the clean ramp shots), but then you have to deal with this very clumsy and clunky GEM shot and it really brings the pins playability down, especially since it plays such a big role in scoring.

I traded mine for a SM. I lost about $200.00 on the Tron LE. Still, I wouldn't say that I regretted buying it. Still a fun and cool pin overall. It's one of the best looking pins ever.

The only dog in the race I have is I like fun games. Pinball not a stock market to me. If one of my games loses "value", why would I care if I plan on keeping it anyway? LOL

The only recent (SAM system) Sterns that have really dipped in value are WPT, WOF, and 24. Theme goes a long way in terms of value. Games with a "forever" license like Simpsons, Spidey, Family Guy, Iron Man, etc....will likely hold. Simps and LOTR have held steady prices for 6 or 7 years. ...but, whatever, unlike some people who sit there rubbing their hands like super villains, waiting for their game to be worth more than what they paid for it - I don't give a fuck...I'm too busy playing my games. If they drop in price, hey - that means new people can afford sweet games....won't change my life.

Love my Tron LE. Only thing I regret is I'll be running out of space and may have to sell something.

I wish LOTR prices would drop... I've got my wife convinced that she wants one..and she's self-confessed HORRID at pinball. She hit multiball on it for the first time last time we were out, and I think that changed her mind about it. :)

I didn't buy one and I don't regret it. Tron was my #1 wishlist theme. With how beautiful the arcade game was and the theme lending itself perfect to gaming, I thought a Tron pin would be simply amazing. I was going to buy my first, and most likely only NIB pin ever. Then I played one. The game is alright, nothing spectacular. Very shallow, underwhelming and didn't use the theme well at all. Only cool integrated theme feature that should have been on all games no matter what, the ramp lighting, was reserved for the LE, so the public will never have a chance to play one like that. Maybe 15 years ago, a Tron pin would have been justice, but it was quite a letdown for me personally. I will still play it on route when I see it, but I would have been pissed if I had paid $4,200 or more for it.

Tron LE owner here... The only thing I regret was the price. My family and I LOVE the pin!! It will be with us for a long time.

That GEM shot really isn't that hard. You can bank off just below the TRON drop targets if you hit the right flipper at the last second. It's a little tricky, but I can get it about as often as I can hit the Quorra shot.

And for the record, I love mine, despite the issues I've had with it.

I tried that bank shot on numerous occasions. It simply did not work with any type of consistency at all. I still had better luck using the upper flipper.

Tron LE is an amazing players game, and I'm very happy with mine. The GEM shot takes time and patience to master, but I can hit it pretty regularly now off of the top part of the upper flipper. It took a while, but I finally have it down.

And really to me, a challenge like that is what makes a game.. if all shots were straight on and somewhat easy to hit, what fun would that be? Just like Gravitar, hard to beginners, but very rewarding when you can finally master it.

I agree that the Tron Pro is not as exciting as it could be as far as looks, but I'd own it if I couldn't have afforded my LE. It's just a great playing table, period. The theme to me just makes it that much better.
