Think im going to start in soon on a basic Multi-Williams CP (converting an old Joust CP). What's the consensus on the best CPO? I dont like the look of the AS version.

Thanks!

Wow! That is a toss up!

A toss up between what?? :) The only ones I know of are AS and Phoenix .. I like the Phoenix but want to see what other options are out there before I pop for $70 delivered.

Basically, the setup is going to be a JROK Multi-Williams PCB and a Moon Patrol PCB .. probably switched via a Multi-JAMMA kit.

artwork doctor has one that's cheaper but i've read very mixed things about the quality of his printing (mostly negative.)

AVOID Artwork Doctor... absolute garbage.

I like Phoenix Arcade's best... AS include Moon Patrol artwork on theirs which isn't included in the JROK board.

Do some research my Brother, there are several people making them. No matter what you do, DO NOT buy one from Artwork Doctor.

There was a big ol' thread on this awhile back.

...and be forewarned... the douchebag selling this art on ebay IS Artwork Doctor... under a different name.

multi CPOs

I think the multi CPOs are all terrible. They try to cram in graphics from each game, and it ends up looking awful. Besides that the control layouts of the different games don't really match well.

Whoever is making these should just produce a nice, clean organized design with the Williams text logo on the top and leave the rest a solid color background perhaps with button placement dots, etc. OR just use a solid color CPO and make the cutouts for the controls.

I would personally offer to redesign the layout for free if I was given the full Illustrator file from one of the good vendors.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I dont see anything on TOG or GameStencils.com so Phoenix may be the best option. I definately dont want junk .. I want something of solid quality that will last.

I just installed the AS version on my Multi and I am very happy with the quality. Sure ... it has the Moon Patrol buggy on it and my machine doesn't actually play Moon Patrol, but I could care less.

Sounds like that won't be an issue for you anyway, since MP will be rocking in your cabinet. The AS artwork will last a long time - the quality is excellent.

I really like the Phoenix version, bought one and went through the CP modification using a hacked Joust panel. I have some stainless steel plates made that fit the panel if you don't want to use bondo and also have the joystick dust covers under the CPO. PM me and we can work out a cheap deal to get one to you. (I have 2 with no holes 16 gauge, 1 with holes, but 14 gauge and you will need to use a dremel to finish the holes (what I did on mine).

I'm now into the cabinet wiring phase of my JROK MW, but take a look at my CP job, it may help you decide. I really like the Phoenix CPO with the Joust Bezel, but Joust is my Grail, so I am partial to the artwork.

Thanks for the offer! PM sent. Looks like you did exactly what I am going to end up doing. This will be a reversiable conversion to a Robotron-style Joust cab. Should be pretty cool when done.

Anybody have two 4" glossy red sticks they want to sell me? :)
