Hey all,
I know quite a few people made this board and I had a friend that may need to pick one up. Who makes the "best" multi williams board. I know arcade shop had one. I was thinking JROK did one as well as some Chinese knock off IIRC. I think clay cowgil did one, but I think that was a daughter board retrofit on an original. I figured one of you guys had used a few and had a preference with some good reasoning behind it. Also, who is selling these boards nowadays. And who's got the best price. I know that's a lot of questions, but before my friend picks a board and seller out of the hat, I thought I would consult the wisdom of the group collective first. Thanks in advance guys.

Kind of what I had figured. Is he selling this board himself or does he use others to sell it for him. Didn't see it on his homepage. I need to get one of his Galaga enhancement packs myself.

For authenticty JROK hands down. I run 1 in each of my Stargate Mini and Sinistar Mini cabs and they are amazing. I had no issues using a 49 way and setting both games to default to 1 game. Stargate actually has the menu hidden so you can play Defender also if you choose. Controls, sound and speed are perfect as it is not running emulation.

Second would be the Arcadeshop or Arcade SD board as the menu is great along with the ability to play other awesome game such as Berzerk/Frenzy/Nintendo VS etc. Arcade SD will support more games and has VGA output options so it is slightly better.

Third would be the original MW kit on original HW by Clay due to the fact it is also not emulation but then you have the issues of ram failures etc. of the original board.

19 in 1 is the worst choice. It has a crappy menu, video is not full screen width on several CGA monitors but fine in VGA mode. For Stargate/Defender the left/right thrust was not disabled causing issues and the control mappings are so so. But Ghost N Goblins is on this board redeeming it from all of its flaws. The big problem is Ghost N Goblins has nothing to do with a Multi Williams.

JROK. Send him a PM to get on his list for the next build. Be prepared to wait a very long time. You'll probably want to get something else to play with while you wait...

Yeah, just figured that much out. He only builds them in batches. Oh well, better get on the Multi Qbert list first, and then get on his multi williams next.

The only one I have played is Clay's kit. I do love original hardware whenever possible. Nothing else seems quite the same. That is why I do want to sometime get a 96-in-1 for either my Pac or Ms. Pac. That many variations on original hardware is pretty cool. The large number of back in the day hacks shows that it is a versatile platform, which is nice to see for something that mostly had dedicated hardware. When it comes to Williams, I like to know that those cool sound effects are being generated by a Williams sound board, so having Clay's kit would be the only way I would go.
