Who is going to the Auction in Kingsport, TN???

when you are there ask about the new date for the timonium maryland sale.

the date was oct 31 but has been changed.

thanks!

I'm pretty sure I'm going.

This will be my first arcade game auction. After reading some of the posts, I've decided to bring a trailer instead of going U-Haul.

RLEVIN..please dont post sarcastic replies here

If you want to contribute..please give some advice on getting the best prices or what to look for

To everyone going from here.. would be great to get together so we try not to bid against one another.. =)

Bryan,
I may be up for going - just to check it out. I wont have the money nor the space to buy anything for a bit due to trying to get the house deal done. drop me a mail - maybe we can ride together! We can even take my truck in case you find something. I wont even charge you for transport (much ;)) lol!
As far as Dales reply, I dont think he was being sarcastic, I think he may just deal in bulk sales. There may be a possibility he hasnt been to a superauctions auction (im assuming thats what this is).
anyhow, I may need to go for the break of my relocating nightmare - lol!

You are right on I have never been to any arcade auction. I try to buy 100 plus game deals. I think I may go to this one just to check it out. I always seem to be out of town when they come around. Last one I knew of I was in Alaska. If I go I would like to meet some of the Klov brother hood.

Hey Guys,
I still plan on going. But don't worry. I don't plan on buying a thing. Of course, thats never stopped me before. Like all the auctions, it just depends on whats there. Like I said in the previous post, the last one of these had a crapload of games. And I still didn't take home a thing. But if I saw something I thought was great, I might get in a bidding war. But again, don't worry. I'm pretty cheap when it comes to buying games. And considering that I own like 5 dynamo 25" cabs, my definition of good is often pretty warped. Those of us going will have to get together. Let me know.

This reminds me of a good story:

Jump to the part labeled:"How I Paid Too Much for Venture"

I'm not Dave, I'm the OTHER guy. All I know is that I'm typing this post on my laptop while sitting in the garage next to my Crazy Climber.

Collusion and collaboration are cool (and that's a bit of assonance..), but THAT time, I knew the sure way to get the game I wanted was to bid. The only thing I kicked myself for later was not picking up the $40 game too for a little cost-based-averaging....

If you've never been to an auction, you should go at least once. Here's one of my favorite techniques I've seen recently.

You know, the bottom-feeders are there trying to get cheap crap and there's usually no shortage of them. Well, the auctioneer sees this crowd waiting for him to drop down to a $50 bid and when he does, five people throw their hand up-
He's all over that crap like white on rice- before anybody can blink, he says 50,60,70,80,90 while his finger points out all of the $50 trigger guys and somebody gets stuck with a $90 piece-o-crap.

HAHAHAAHAHA- it's classic!

There's a lot of entertainment value at an auction.

If anyone is going and is able to drop stuff off near Nashville, I am more than willing to pay for time/gas/trailer rental and all that if needed to make the trip a little less costly. I can't leave the area to make the trip unfortunately, and I only have a small want list for 1-2 machines...I can pay PayPal up front also if there is concern about cash...

I'll be there... First auction.. looking forward to the experience... I'll be the tall guy with metal legs... looking forward to seeing everybody...

Im staying at the hotel where the auction is. Will be there tonight and can check PMs tonight!!

Fun Fun Fun!

Just got back with truck load. I was amazed at how many people I saw who was bidding on their own stuff. Prices were high. Very little in classics there. Was not what I thought it would be for my 1st auction. Very slow.

That's why the best auctions are "store" auctions going out of business so people can't "buy back" their own crap. I'm still shocked that bs is allowed.
