Who is arcadeoverlays

I don't think they are on klov.. Last I knew it was the two guys that used to work for pc amusements before they got busted by namco and went under.

For what it is worth, I have order 3 CPO's from them in the last few months and I was very impressed with all of them. Two were custom jobs were he tweaked the files that he had and one was a file that I sent him. All turned out really nice considering that they are inkjet. They responded to emails very promptly too.

I am NOT impressed with Arcade Overlays. I ordered a Neo Geo Mini, and a Centipede mini overlay from them. The Centipede overlay is not even close to the original artwork (knew that ordering it) but they both were poor quality. Both of them allowed color to bleed through the control panel. I had the Neo Geo powder coated, and you could see the black from the control panel bleeding through the overlay. I did not repaint the Centipede control panel (the control panel is a full wrap) and the color bled so bad, you could see the black paint and even the scrape marks off the old control panel. They did send me a replacements for both, and the replacement Neo Geo CPO turned out fine, but the Centipede still sucked. Whole experience sucked, nothing like puttting on new overlays, finding out the quality sucks, and then doing it all over again.

Mark,
How long ago were your orders? To be honest, I haven't had a chance to install any of mine yet, but they are VERY thick. I doubt there would be any bleed trough (or at least I hope...) with the CPO's that I have. I wonder if they have switched to a thicker material since you ordered??

I will be installing one this weekend. I will take pics when completed.

I've used them for a few projects where I needed custom CP artwork, or couldn't find a screen printed version. I've been happy with the print quality, but I agree that the material they use is a little thin. Any imperfections (or old artwork) will show through. I just make sure everything is sanded down, then put a few coats of flat black spray paint on before applying the artwork.

Ive dealt with them on multiple occasions, and have had nothing except a good experience. They have done custom work for me as well as off the shelf prints. I did have an issue with a custom galaga CPO I designed not staying stuck at the bends, so they changed suppliers and sent me a new one no charge! It ALOT better than the experiance I have had with Scott at Arcadeshop. I didnt like how the CPO for T&F was, and he argued with me up and down about it being right or not (in fact I posted here). in the end it boiled down to not being happy with the product, so after MONTHS of deliberation he swapped me out for a Asteroids deluxe cpo that hs since cracked at the bend (only about 8 months on the machine).
So I will call Arcadeoverlays if Prok or Rich dont have it availible or I need custom work. At least they stand behind what they do and try thier best to make the customer happy.

Thanks for the correction. Im usually not terrible with names on people who have given me the red ass!!
Although Scott at mamemarquees has done alright my be as well. So I guess I DONT want to get those two mixed up!

I have placed one order for a CPO and marquee for my multi williams and it seems to be good and holding up well.

I would buy from them again! :)

Just my 2cents.......

Ok, thanks for the input. I had ordered an overlay from them and it took about 2 times as long to get it as they originally said. However, they did apoligize and give me a nice deal on my next order, and I am happy with the quality of this one

have you guys ever thought of hiring a local artist to restore your artwork and just print it on your own? I've been very disappointed with most artwork i've bought in general to the point that i only do it myself now.

arcade overlays

They use much thicker polycarbonate than most places. They silkscreen the graphics on their products. The thicker poly is NOT good for CPs with sharp angles like the Nintendo PC 10 CP.

I was a professional screen printer for several years and I can tell you that they do an ok job. Sometimes the colors are off or there is some minor color bleeding (not through the poly).

Before you order look at other control panels and compare the color correctness, line quality on thin lines and dot pattens.

Overall they are doing a good job and we should keep them in business.

Are you saying Arcade Overlays is silkscreening?

Todd uses 12mil thick material. Todd warned me up front that in order to make the colors really pop you needed to have the panel painted black.

3rd post - 3rd picture in. I am 100% happy with the quality. Sorry about your luck.

Hmm I wouldve thought and recommend white
and its probably not the thickness of the poly thats the problem for the bleed
