Who here has plaved Centuri's Challenger?

It's available on Mame, which is the only place I've played it... seems to be a fun game, not sure if I'd want a dedicated one though, unless I got a great deal on it... It's not that rare of a game I wouldn't think based on the KLOV info, just probably not that desirable...

So, if I had a Time Pilot with a bad cabinet it might be in my interest to swap cab parts to make a good Time Pilot instead?

I'm not a big fan of Time Pilot and rather than fill a basement with games for the sake of having them I'd rather have games I like.

Anyone in the Annapolis, Maryland area want to swap something for a time pilot?

I played Challenger when it was brand new "in the wild" back in the day....strange game with not much staying power. Garry

I use to own one that I bought from Mid-South Auctions for 100 bucks + fees. I think they owner was bidding against me. It is simular to Megatack. I eventually sold mine for what I paid to a friend.

I just tried the game out in MAME. It has to be the strangest arcade game I have ever played. Kind of fun though... it would be cool to have one.

I've got one and I play it too.

It is difficult to make it all the way through level 16. You can earn an extra man every 40K, but you can only play 9 ships total. Make sense?

I think every 4th screen, it does something funky- when you have a certain number of crystal particles left, they converge on the center of the screen into a massive one that you have to keep blasting at. You have to destroy it all before a certain number of bounces or it will suck you in. Well, each time that screen comes around, you have less time to destroy the pieces.

Things can get pretty cluttered, especially on the waves where they keep sending the three different kinds of alien ships.

Here's one more curiosity- if you dodge the crystals long enough on each wave without shooting them, the level will end. It's pretty hard to do past the 2nd screen, but it works.

A friend of mine says that they used to gamble the lunch tab on it back in the day. It was one of the first games I bought AFTER I got into my house/garage and it hasn't been traded out. (too much crap in front of it now....)
