t's called Indy 800, and it was released in 1975. It used a massive cabinet (with mirrors for other people to watch the action) and allowed 8 people to play a color racing game (the first of its kind) at once. Indy 800 apparently revolutionized racing games. I hadn't even heard of this game until I saw how All Game Guide gave it 5/5 stars. Indy 800 inspired the classic Atari 2600 game Indy 500, as well as the 4-player arcade game Indy 4. Someone on another website informs me that a working unit can be found at The Game Room in New Jersey. Do you know anything about this game?

I believe Jeff from Australia is the Indy 8 king. He doesn't post much anymore, but do a search for Indy 8 and I'm sure you will find him.
To be honest, I'm not really looking to buy this game, since I'm sure it's super-expensive. To be honest, I just want to play it - just once. Does anyone know of any arcades that still have one? I live in Jacksonville, Florida...

I'd say that lots of us know this game.

If I recall correctly, it came up in a couple heavily discussed threads not too terribly long ago.

my buddy is always doing warehouse raids. Recently, he found a Indy 800 marquee thing that sits above the game with the mirrors. He asked if I wanted it for my garage arcade, but space wise, I couldn't fit it. Pretty sure when he goes back he'll probably have room to grab the entire game.

Everybody loves Indy 800. Everybody wants an Indy 800. Anyone remember the ebay selling price for the working, mostly complete, no overhead marque one out of Utah maybe 3 years ago?

That's right. $108.00. Or very close to that. RGVAC was all abuzz with tales of who wanted it; and which heavy hitter would appear and drop $3K on it. In the end it was just the watchers and the crickets.

Who Here Has Even HEARD of This Game? (Indy 800)

t's called Indy 800

Saw one on an op raid in Minneapolis a couple years ago. Somewhat taken apart, but everything was supposedly there. Op wanted $1,000 for it. Swore up and down that it was fully working and just taken apart to move it. I got a few pictures of it somwehre.

Yep. At the end of the day that thing is 4 feet wide, 4 feet deep and has it's weight right in the title. In order to play all 8 at once, you'd have to dedicate an 8x8 foot square of game room real estate. It's a big commitment to make for a home arcade.

The rare one is Sprint 8. I think like only 10 or so were made. Jeff wanted Sprint 8 but settled for Indy 800 and had it shipped from the states. I think Prok helped him get it and that he knew where another one was.
