Repair, sales, restorations, etc? I am downsizing the arcade cabinets i normally make, and moving over to pinball, something i know little about. Want to get some ideas on what direction i should take. Pm me if you want to help me out, thanks! Brett

Im pretty sure there are ALOT more video game cabs that people would buy before pins...You might want to re think your strategy before making it official. I have seen your work and am in no way criticizing any of it, I think that what you do is FANTASTIC, Im just not sure if there is a pinball market for it!
I have seen others make flat-pack pin cabs for Virtual pins (I want one SO BAD!) but that seems to be the only market I can think of.
Maybe Im wrong?!?!? (it did happen once before)

If you can crank out pinball cabinets new for under $750 you will get some sales. Here is some of your competition:

I have seen Doug's cabs in person and they are pretty nice. Yours look great too but I think you would need to be lower on price.

My work fixes, refurbs, and sells pins, too.

The problem is that parts are usually made specifically for one pinball and then never made again. Plus, most pinballs of the same era and manufacturer all have the same cab.

I could see there being a need for new cabs only to replace stuff like that burned one Ken recently restored, or ones that have had bad water damage - but only in order to swap everything over to it rather than part it out.

But that's it...

I would think the market could stand another supplier of repro playfields.Your existing equipment would make easy work of the woodwork aspect of it,but creating and applying the art looks to be time consuming and costly. But when you consider the finished product draws $500.00 to $1000.00 maybe it is worth looking into.CPR is the only company i know of doing this, here is a link to their queue of pre orders.

I think your real enemy in all of this is the lack of reproduction artwork. There just aren't all that many available :(
I would try making a couple cabs, applying new artwork and try selling them and see how it goes.
Addams Family would be a good one to try with.

I think that if you can figure out a way to ship the arcade cabinets disassembled, you would sell more. Include the basic parts and instructions to put them together. Sure it would be a rather large box but all the pieces would be flat on top of each other.

If i remember right, shipping the cabs have been discussed before but there has to be a way to ship them for a reasonable rate. Just think about all of the furniture you buy now that you have to put together. It comes shipped in a flat box.

I couldn't agree with this more. I'd have already bought a cab or two from you if there would be an easier shipping route. I'm not against assembling it myself. :)

I agree to, especially for pinball cabinets. I'd buy one unassembled.
