I have no memory of this game, but I saw it in a pic someone took of an arcade (and of course it had a piece of paper taped to it so I'm guessing it was out of order LOL)

There are only a couple of clips of it on YouTube.

I got one from Lloyd at coinopwarehouse back in March and then dealt it off to Superbee4406 (Tim). It was pretty nice cosmetically (except for the crumbling back) and complete but DOA. He has been trying to get it fixed, but I understand it has been slow going.

I am starting to think Tim and I share DNA..

Had one, lost it in the flood a while back. The MOST underrated vector game made. It's cross between defender and space war and star trek. WAAAAAY cool.

I have a DOA one. Basically bought it to try to get my Rip Off machine repaired. The Solar Quest is missing the cardboard scenery and this part is pretty hard to come by. I was thinking of just using some Omega Race cardboard scenery if I keep it.

I ended up just making my own with fluorescent paints.
The original backdrop will often be faded after 30 years anyway.
The game is definitely way better with something installed and lit.

I'm sitting on two of them that we found with an Armor Attack. Great game when working, just haven't had the time to sit down and get at least one of em up and running. One of the Solar Quest looks like the monitor was on fire at one point..ugg

I WISH I had a Solar Quest! One of my favorite Vectrex games.

I wouldn't even care if I bought one DOA, I would just stare at it and drool. Or, I would imagine that I was playing it.

I have one. Very cool and underrated game. Jonathan called me last night to ask if I would bring it to cax. So its a maybe.

Yep...this is a very fun game. Bill and I discussed him bringing it just as he says (just before this thread surfaced), and as long as it's working, Bill will most likely bring it to CAX.

Keep your fingers crossed that it works! :)

Currently still dead. Reflowed the power brick to get +5 to the board. The CPU board has issues, the LED stays on. I found someone who will fix the boards, but he is not taking any new work on until at least November. So I am waiting.

Took a chance on a second boardset another KLOVer had for sale, and no dice. The LED stays lit on this board also. So I started to clean the cab up, and the overlay is still in great shape. Cab has some issues, but it can be fixed. Can wait to get it running and sitting next to Star Castle.

I play the game on MAME alot, and I can't wait to see this game in its vector glory.

Anybody got a working Cinematronics CPU board for sale out there?

Here's the pic I was talking about..

I've seen that photo before.
Can't help but think how they probably had all the
volumes turned down low for a place like that.

Anyone who has these games sitting around, not-working, should have to relinquish them :D

I passed my spare doa solar quest on to a collector I think in LA (I think it was missing the blacklight background and was bad monitor). I traded away my doa spare monitor with variable intensity board to another collector. So I have done what I can to keep them alive..

Here are some pictures of mine. Had been sitting in a garage with a dirt floor. Bottom 8" of the cabinet was swollen all the way around. I cut off the bottom and replaced all the wood.

The side art is original. Since there was pretty much zero chance finding a NOS set, I ended up cutting around the art with a razor blade. Then I removed the white vinyl. I already had removed a good portion of vinyl when I replaced the bottom of the cabinet. Then I taped off the artwork and rolled on white paint. Monitor has a brand new tube. Most of the chassis has been rebuilt also.

Still need to paint the front edge of the control panel and remove the green paint splatters on the coin door.

Very hard to pick up the star background with a camera. Nice and bright in person.
