Who has Phoenix Arcades multi Williams films? Marquee and bezel interest?

I will try not to be too long winded. Some people need to know the history because I keep getting asked to make these parts again.

5 or so years I became a licensed supplier of repro Williams and Bally pinball artwork. Williams required me to sell off any remaining arcade pieces under that unmbrella since they do not give out licenses for arcade artwork. Looong story there. I sold off my inventory to Anthony @ Quarterarcade.com who is a really great guy and a true asset to the hobby. Don (arcadeguy) inquired about buying my MW films so he could do a full run of all pieces. At that time I had 50 or so metal panels left. Don wasnt interested in them so I sold them off at cost to people on rgvac with the promise that Don was going to run the cpos for them. Sadly Don had some health problems and never ran anything. It's murky from here as the films may have changed hands 4-5 times and I currently have no idea who owns them. I did quote the art through 2 of my printers for one of the films owners (cant recall whom) for a small run and they thought the cost was too high.

Since that time I have begun an exit strategy of pinball art as there are just too many licensing and legal costs (and b.s. fighting amongst the rights owners) making it too cumbersome and expensive to keep doing for my liking.

So after years of no one doing anything with my MW films, the promises made to the people who bought those metal panels weren't kept and most didn't forget it. They kept emailing me all the time. So I decided to make a run of the cpos for these collectors and had some left over to sell, but not many. Yet Jroks board still kept MW popular. However I didnt want to be running MW art again as I hoped whomever had the films would do so. Still no one has stepped up and the demand continues, yet I still dont want to run that art.

I was approached by 2 different people on this forum about making the cpo and the metal panels again. I got those 2 people in touch with each other and they agreed to let 1 of them take the ball and run with it. I hooked them up with the guy who made the metal panels for me and even donated my sole remaining panel because the drawings no longer existed. I let him run the art through my printer at cost. I made absolutely nothing in this deal whatsoever.

Now there is great interest from people wanting a marquee and bezel. I still have no interest in these projects and hope whomever has the films to make the art or sell those films here to someone who will. Yes I still have the art files (as they are my designs) to make new film from, but I prefer not to go that route.

If the film owner would like to discuss this with me please drop me an email. Otherwise I wish everyone good luck and hope there is some resolution to this.

are these the bezels that Tanman reproduced earlier this year? he did a run due to "demand" (not sure how many) then had a very hard time selling them. he ended up blowing out the last bunch at well under cost just to get rid of them. i got one and i have to say the quality is top notch.

i can't see anyone who doesn't have a warehouse for storing inventory wanting to do another run of these.

Darin, I think Tanman is the one who owns the films currently. I think his plans were to run everything, but if I recall, he only ran the bezels.

Actually, with some research, I see that he recently had a "fire sale" on his remaining bezels for $20 in May 2010. Here is that thread:

Here are the original bezel FS threads:

This is where the preorder fiasco a while back will make this kind of project hard to get done.
I would have no problem putting a down payment or prepay,to a reputable seller like Darren,Brian or Rich,to get this project done.
There are others who would not want to do a prepay.

Darin I will send you a email and tell you what I know. I could uses a marquee if you run them :)

I'm with Jim.. I'd happily prepay for the parts.

I would get a bezel AND prepay. As long as the quality was like the originals! Its the only piece I still need.

Put me down for 2 of each (bezel and marquee) if they're ever run again. And, like others, I'd pre-pay for them if they are produced by a reputable seller. I've got some of Darin's work and it is truly *AWESOME*.

If another run of the jrok boards come out (as we're expecting from the thread where he said they will be made in Dec), then the demand for high-quality artwork will certainly be there.

Ditto for me, would like 2 sets of the marquee and bezel. I am sure there will be a lot of interest in these since a lot of us just got the new control panel and overlay. Would gladly pre-pay for this work, Darin's work is spot on!

in case any of you missed it, a recap:

- Darin does NOT want to do another run of these; he wants someone else to do them so he can point people interested to another source.

- Tanman owns/owned the films and did do a run of the bezels but couldn't sell all the ones he printed until he was practically giving them away at $20. i seriously doubt he'll do another run, and i don't think he ever did the marquees at all. he also has/had the original films for the bezel, marquee, and CPO for sale at $200 for the set if anyone else wants to lose a bunch of money too.

- posting "I'm in for 2 bezels and 1 marquee!" at this point will get you nowhere. start looking for these on the second-hand market.
