Who has Phoenix Arcades multi Williams films? Marquee and bezel interest?
I will try not to be too long winded. Some people need to know the history because I keep getting asked to make these parts again.
5 or so years I became a licensed supplier of repro Williams and Bally pinball artwork. Williams required me to sell off any remaining arcade pieces under that unmbrella since they do not give out licenses for arcade artwork. Looong story there. I sold off my inventory to Anthony @ Quarterarcade.com who is a really great guy and a true asset to the hobby. Don (arcadeguy) inquired about buying my MW films so he could do a full run of all pieces. At that time I had 50 or so metal panels left. Don wasnt interested in them so I sold them off at cost to people on rgvac with the promise that Don was going to run the cpos for them. Sadly Don had some health problems and never ran anything. It's murky from here as the films may have changed hands 4-5 times and I currently have no idea who owns them. I did quote the art through 2 of my printers for one of the films owners (cant recall whom) for a small run and they thought the cost was too high.
Since that time I have begun an exit strategy of pinball art as there are just too many licensing and legal costs (and b.s. fighting amongst the rights owners) making it too cumbersome and expensive to keep doing for my liking.
So after years of no one doing anything with my MW films, the promises made to the people who bought those metal panels weren't kept and most didn't forget it. They kept emailing me all the time. So I decided to make a run of the cpos for these collectors and had some left over to sell, but not many. Yet Jroks board still kept MW popular. However I didnt want to be running MW art again as I hoped whomever had the films would do so. Still no one has stepped up and the demand continues, yet I still dont want to run that art.
I was approached by 2 different people on this forum about making the cpo and the metal panels again. I got those 2 people in touch with each other and they agreed to let 1 of them take the ball and run with it. I hooked them up with the guy who made the metal panels for me and even donated my sole remaining panel because the drawings no longer existed. I let him run the art through my printer at cost. I made absolutely nothing in this deal whatsoever.
Now there is great interest from people wanting a marquee and bezel. I still have no interest in these projects and hope whomever has the films to make the art or sell those films here to someone who will. Yes I still have the art files (as they are my designs) to make new film from, but I prefer not to go that route.
If the film owner would like to discuss this with me please drop me an email. Otherwise I wish everyone good luck and hope there is some resolution to this.
