Who has paid more to ship a game than what they bought the game for?

I've been buying up a few games lately and 90% of them are being shipped. One of them i actually am paying more to ship the game than what i paid for the game. Now this is door to door service, so thats a factor but cripes, shipping is expensive! Anybody else?

Try not to but sometimes you just gotta pull the trigger. I think the last game I purchased, "Thief" was around $150....shipping was around $375.

The cheaper the game, the worse it gets to justify buying. But, that all goes out the window when it's a game you really want. Half the battle is acquiring and finding so cost is what it is.... shipping will only get more expen$ive with fuel getting stupid.

Then again, sometimes it's the times you don't pay to have it shipped but do it yourself that cost more. I flew to GA from CA, rented a truck and drove back with a few games.... Truck rental, plus gas was way over what I paid in total for the games. Good thing is I helped other KLOVrs out picking up / dropping off games along the way. They threw in some $$ for my gas and that helped supplement the expenses. Still cost easily over $1500 with transpo, lodging, food... but it was worth it.

Iv'e done that so many time it sickning. But when I want a game I'm so impulsive I just buy it. Usually kick my self later. For example I have been waiting to find a Three Stooges, the first half decent one I find is getting bought no matter what the situation is because iv'e been waiting three years and could wind up waiting another three.

Roadrunner did it recently when he bought my Burgertime cab/parts...

As of yet, I have picked up all of my games. And I can't think of any I'd be willing to have shipped... Except maybe a nasty-cabbed Star Wars with all working internals. If I could score that cheap (yeah right) I'd do it.

I payed $0 something dollar for a Hydro thunder, Area 51 :site four and counter attack.

Breakfast at IHop and the U-hual rental brought the price way over the top. :)

If the game is cheap / real bargain, and you pay more for shipping, I think that sort of evens out.

The question should be: who paid a fair price / overpaid for a game, and then paid more than the price for shipping? :D

Years ago (late '90s) when I used to ship games, I did this a lot.

The worst one I can remember was my Target Zero EM game. If you've seen this you know how big it is.

Paid 50.00 for the game, paid 400.00 to ship it. Crazy I know, but I've still not seen another one in comparable shape.

Same here. I have had two or three games "delivered"... but those were delivered by the game owners and not a shipping company. I think I only paid ~$50 extra for one and the others said they were passing through the area anyways so it didn't cost me extra.

Oh, crap. I completely forgot about that. Dean (Herbertsmart) did deliver an empty Joust cab to me a few years ago. He wouldn't accept any payment. So my answer is still correct payment-wise, but I did have one delivered.

Dean is a hella awesome guy outside of the delivery as well. I love (the majority of) this community! :D

I've paid more in transport cost to go get games a couple of times. With the price of gas, I'll probably do it more often. :(

I think I'd be more inclined to eat the cost of shipping a game that WAS "cheap".
If I'm paying market value or more, adding on hundreds of dollars to ship it turns it into an instant NO WAY for me.

Guilty. My first game ever was a Centipede that had been converted to Mortal Kombat. I paid $86 on eBay and had it shipped for $200. This was 10 years ago, and I have learned a thing or two since then.

Don't worry, that ones gonna be more expensive than the shipping when you find it :)

Mach 3

Game $350 shipping $360 and the game and player still worked when it arrived and are still working great to this day.

My first game (Indiana Jones) had the shipping equal to the price...didn't think much of it at the time. However, I paid 4x what 720 cost me to have it shipped...but that's because I got it for $95 ;) I just figure it into the overall cost of the game. If it's still reasonable, the don't worry about it.
