Really?

Do people really edit their ads to say 'SOLD' on CL much? I mean, I know some CL users are freaking stupid, but I'd have thought they wouldn't be able to figure out how to edit it at that point.

Props to the responder, because the 'SOLD' ad guy is a knucklehead.

I repeatedly tried to delete an ad one time and kept getting errors saying that it couldn't be completed at this time, so I changed the title and body to "sold."

i have edited one to "sold" once to leave up the ad for a rare item with pics for reference for the few people who might want to see the item. i got hit up for more of my inventory of collectibles and made another sale without having to bother with posting a new detailed ad. this was not arcade related, and not something common or new like a 60-1.

I know this will ruffle some feathers, but I'd much rather see the occasional post left up and marked "SOLD" than I would see someone else's smartass reply. Marking your ad as sold is usually not helpful, but at least it doesn't violate any CL terms. Replying to an ad with another CL post does violate CL policy. If you wanna declare yourself the Craig's List police, at least have the decency to do it with a private message or phone call to the seller. Don't clutter it up even more with this kind of post. Just my opinion...

This......

Maybe it's my version of arcade purist talking but about half the adds on there(atlanta) are for bootleg 60-1 machines that could have been just as easily restored using real parts and boards. So keep kicking those guys!(lol)

Why does anyone bring up "CL Policy" as if that makes a bit of difference?

CL Policy? HAHAHA... what a joke.

I look at it like this... It's a free service, they don't have many rules, so why not try to follow them and make it a nicer place? If someone else doesn't follow the rules and for some reason it bothers me, I either flag and move on or write a nicely worded reply (in a private email) and then move on.

Never had any problems deleting an ad once the item was sold, unlike others I do not enjoy receiving all of the unwanted contact from the lunatics that shop craigslist...for those that do...please keep your listing active...

I thought it was funny. Apparently I'm not uptight enough. :p

For me it's exactly the opposite of being uptight... Not sure why everyone feels the need to police CL... and on top of it create more unwanted listings?

+1

Or if your going to be an ass, be man enough to leave your name and address in your post so that the original poster can get back with you to address your problem personally.

Meh... flag it and move on...

Or, just do what I did. A guy here had a ham radio up for cheap and had his phone # in the ad. It was sold the first day but he didn't remove the ad for a week so I just had about a dozen friends call him up and ask if the radio was available.

He removed the ad that night.
