Who else doesn't look at pictures on this site if they are thumbnails?

Another thing I've noticed, If I'm at my office (on lunch break of course) all multimedia sites are blocked. That means all the pics that are linked from photobucket, imgur etc... will be blocked and will not show up. The pics that are attached to the thread and embedded (or not) will be there for me to enjoy (while on lunch break).

I uploaded this thumbnail, now what? How do I embed it to make it bigger? What is the next step?

Well, in Chrome, you can click on the thumbnail to enlarge it, then right click on that large image and select Copy Image Address. Firefox has this feature, not sure about Internet Explorer.

In the message body, use the img tags and paste the url in between them, like so:

You should be working at work.

This has been reported.

Hey old guy op. Get off my lawn.. Laughs.
Don't like it.. Don't click it.. Don't care if you do or not..

I won't post picture with an off site system. I been around too long and seen off site systems die off and the info is lost. I post pictures to inform others who follow me. I have learn about and have seen some pretty cool stuff.

FIZGIG, yes the same guy who offered me a beating the next time he saw me over the wrinkled star castle side art thing. The legacy he left is one of broken links. He should have left the links up so others could see what kind of talent he had in reproducing art work.

Imagine if technical stuff dispeared due to broken links. How many people would be stumbling around trying to fix these old CRTs or even attempt to swap out a tv tube into an Arcade CRT?

We all run across people we don't like but to deny info to others who collect after we flush our collections or pass away. It kind of sad. In a few generations, don't you want to help the handful of collectors who are silly enough to collect these old arcade machines? It one of the reasons why I am still here..

Once again.......Use this site to attach the pic, then embed it.....oooh that was hard :D

Phone photos taken in portrait mode (phone held vertically) will show up rotated because the file itself is saved on the phone like that. The phone just has software to rotate the image to fit the phone's orientation. Which is why it looks fine on your phone in portrait mode (and even landscape because the phone knows to rotate it from it's "original" orientation) but looks rotated 90 degrees on computers.

Windows 7 or later has an option to right click the file and rotate the image clockwise/counterclockwise.

I typically just transfer photos from my phone to my PC and then rotate/scale them or whatever and upload them to imgur.

You can also e-mail photos to yourself to access them from a PC if you don't have a phone cable lying around.

If you absolutely need to post them from your phone... consider turning your phone sideways to take landscape photos.

Like I said "old get off my lawn old man"...laughs
Move the mouse and click it..

Oh yea that is way too hard for you. :D

Nothing more fun than watching an old guy try to herd klov cats.

Good luck your going to need it ;)

Embed a pic. You seem to be so hip and young seems like you could figure out this computer and forum thing a bit better ;)

Computer? How old school. I bet you still search with yahoo. Laughs.
Smartphones are out selling computers. ;)

So how is that "Do it my way or I going to complain about it" working out for you?
Thanks for the laughs.

Same here, and I'm usually only on the site at work so I miss a ton of pictures.

Heck, I skip over threads with embedded and attached pictures.

Does this method continue to work over time when forum software gets updated or changed? Like what if they switch to forum software that no longer uses the tag, do all these embedded pics then break and just appear as a text link? I believe they would, whereas using the built in thumbnail system gives your pictures a better chance of migrating over to new forum software.[/QUOTE]

As mentioned it it probably best to attach the image first. Then embed the link to the attachment using the img tag. With this method at least your attachment would survive any updates.

Go to Manage Attachments, Choose file then upload it
Then under "Current Attachments" click on the link to the image and it will open in a new browser window.
Copy and past the URL of that image and then paste that link into the box that comes up when you click on the image link when typing a message.

They don't teach you youngsters much in school. Asking a question in a public forum is not complaining. It's called a discussion. Guess that's next year's class for you?

And you can't use that new smart phone to add img tags? Must not teach that in your class either. Maybe switch schools?

A few posts back you rambled on about the reason you are on this site to help others, preserve this info, etc. Yet you are saying it's not worth yours or others time to add img tags to make it easier for others to see and get that info. Hmmmm........

Since you seem to get your feathers roughed up and not taking my posting aim at you in a joking manner, This is going to be my last post in this thread.

You said "Which begs the question, why can't some of you guys be bothered to turn your pics the right way before uploading them. And why not use a picture hosting site and embed the images with..."

Because some of us know how to click a thumbnail.
Because links may fail and information might be lost.

Thumbnails were designed so that people with limited data and slow internet speeds were able to read threads. The need for thumbnails maybe still useful to the people who use smartphones. There are a still a lot of smartphone plans that still have a limited data plans.
I still see a real reason to continue using thumbnails. When smartphone data plans become truly unlimited, I will consider changing.

Fair enough.

But can anyone really see anything on a thumbnail image on a cell phone. Seems pointless to me.
