Who else doesn't look at pictures on this site if they are thumbnails?

Just wondering.

If I'm looking at a thread, especially a restore thread, I won't even bother looking at the pictures if they are thumbnails and I have to click them to make them bigger.

Also I will definitely not click a pic if it's turned sideways.

Which begs the question, why can't some of you guys be bothered to turn your pics the right way before uploading them. And why not use a picture hosting site and embed the images with the
tags?

Anyway /rant...... off to work :)

The major issue is that if you host the pictures on another site, and that site goes dead or your account is closed, or you delete the picture, that image is lost forever. Then, perhaps four or five years down the line someone is doing the right thing and searching before posting a new thread, if they open up the restoration thread or troubleshooting thread there are zero pictures available.

So as far as I'm concerned, folks definitely need to be attaching pictures to the thread otherwise they may get lost forever. It is INSANELY frustrating to be looking for something only to find out that the thread you thought would help you out is full of missing pictures and broken URLs.

Well, the sideways pics taken with phones, can be corrected by the user holding the phone the right way. I always see that "don't know why the pic was taken sideways...", it's because you need to turn your phone 90 degrees to take it correctly :)

I don't understand this thread. What' the OP talkin' about?

Instead of bitching about the thumbnails point us idiots in the right direction with how to post larger pics.

I know how to do it if I'm posting an image from the internet but I don't know how to do it from my phone...

Thumbnails are fine with me. I dont like posts that link their photobucket with literally 400 pages... and after viewing 12 pages I gave up, and never saw that missle command cabaret.

I like pictures to be posted in the thread, but then you get the guys that quote a post like a restoration post that has 10 huge pictures linked to it. They don't edit out the pictures, so now you have to scroll through all the pictures again to get to the bottom of the new post just to see they wrote "nice work".

Thumbnails are hard to view on my phone, I don't mind them on my computer. Imgur is nice and easy and I think (maybe) the quality is a bit better. I would embed them but it seems like every time I do it makes them way too big.

More and more people are viewing this site on a mobile device and giant pics just aren't friendly so thumbnails (especially attached images) are a good thing IMO. I don't really care for thumbnails linking to photobucket etc, but when they're attached it's easy to click the first and easily scroll through all five.

I mainly use a laptop so I like big pics, but it grinds my gears when people quote a half dozen large pics in a resto thread and simply say "looks great":D. If more people attached the pics directly to the thread then you wouldn't have to worry about the people that hit quote to reply.

If I'm interested in the thread I'll look at the pictures however they are posted. Now thumbnails sucks in Windows 7 because I have to hit the thumbnail, close it, and reopen it to see the picture, but in Windows 10 and on my Android tablet it works fine.

There's gotta be some mod or setting that would allow people to upload pix to the forums and have them show up a decent size. I agree with the OP the thumbnails are a real buzzkiller.

You can attach pics and then embed the image URL. Like this:

There is a way the poster can use a attachment and make it big. This was done on a iPhone 4S (company issued its a piece).

Think about it for a minute. You are too lazy to bother with making a single mouse click to view a thumbnail image...then you wonder why others are too bothered to take all the steps you are asking for to embed photos? As far as rotated photos, I have no idea why this forum constantly rotates pictures incorrectly. All my phone photos look perfectly fine everywhere else including other forums, it's just this forum that messes them up. As much as I like this forum, the forum software seems to be archaic. It's terrible on mobile and constantly messes up photos whereas other forums work perfectly fine.

That's not the case on my Windows 7 machine, then again it's most likely an issue with your browser and not the OS itself. I'm using Chrome and don't have that problem...

A good 40 percent of my photos are taken portrait ON PURPOSE.

Most "sideways image" issues are caused by users using phones. Mobile devices use tags to turn their images... tags that this forum doesn't support.

I know how to add the IMG tags and do that when embeding the pic in the post. However, is there a way to set the size (height and width)?

I can certainly edit the pictures to the size I want and upload them, but it would be nice to have a sizing option (like other forums) to size them so they don't blow out the viewing area like some people do with huge pics.
