Who else buys games just to sell?

I eventually tire of the game and it sits unloved because my kids don't understand the games. At that point I will flip for something else. I had a DK cocktail that didn't get turned on for 4 months.

I buy to sell only to fund further purchases. I get enjoyment out of restoring games and if I like the game enough it may stay. If it has to go then it's going to go for a profit and bring me more games.

I still don't understand the frustration of some when other people flip games. Envy? Jealousy? Why do you care?

Flipping and Restoring/Selling are two different things to me. A restoration is a service, and it makes sense to make some money by providing the service.

I don't like it when someone buys a cheap game then sells it as is for a profit. I am in this for the hobby, not a business, and I look at it from that point of view. When I see the games, I see something that I want to own. When a flipper sees it, he just sees dollar signs. I am competing with them for the steals. They are generally better at finding them as well, since that is what they do for at least part of their living.

I have friends that flip games all the time, and it is certainly their right to do it. It is my right to be annoyed when they beat me to a deal. If I am not going to get it, I would much rather see it go to another hobbyist collector than an unnecessary middle man.

I can certainly understand that. But some people get very upset if they feel that the selling party didn't do "enough" work or something. For instance, if a game is broken then I will get it working and then sell it. Sometimes it only takes a day to do that. But people get veeeery worked up about that. Especially if I don't actually "restore" the game. Well, I don't enjoy painting cabinets all that much. Or making them pristine. Let me take that back...when I've done it, it was enjoyable....but you can't make any money that way.

Get it working. Make it look presentable. Make the sale.

I respect all of those who have the time and money to do a full restoration on a Defender or whatever. But it's not in the cards for those of us who are barely making it day to day.

I can't stand any part of the restoration. I actually have a similar system to yours.

Get it working. Make it look presentable. Play it.

Play it sometimes gets moved up ahead of make it look presentable.

Someday when I have more money and space, I will probably pay for the restored ones. I know I won't want to do the work to restore it. I don't have anywhere near enough patience to paint well. For now, I just want to play all of the $50 games I can find.

It's not a matter of patience for me. It's money and space. Plus I don't have a garage at all so painting is out of the question unless it's outside.
