My Who Dunnit pinball has an error message (check fuse f16 or 12v opto power) first turn it on about 30 seconds f16 fuse blows now if I unplug the three stepper motor boards the fuse holds. Now hears where it gets strange if I plug in just one of the stepper motor boards it doesn't matter which one the fuse blows.
I have already swapped out the power board and the cap on the opto board which was leaking
Can anybody help me out

well i have a who dunnit but no op manual and no chart, does that line have any transistors? good place to start looking. I can look at chart online and see if that string has accociated drive transistors

It blows because the motor is activated for too long. It's not being able to "find itself", that is to say determine the position of the reels. So it keeps the motor on, waiting for the optos to tell it where it is. So it is very likely bad optos, or the optos you have aren't correctly matched with the reels.

who dunnit

I have a who dunnit that could not find itself on the slot reels. It did not stop until the ball drained or other condition. fuse would not blow. no error recorded. turns out the paper on the slot reel had to be repaired as the opto was reading to many breaks which should only be one.

Even with the 3 opto boards unplugged I plug in the motor stepper board led#3 flickers and led#7 dimmed then the fuse blows
