Who?Dunnit

See that pinkish plastic in this pic? You are missing that it seems. It would have been more obvious if you would have posted a better pic.

i like how your phone lights up

i think i installed the light inside the phone wrong as the light holder blocks the light from shining through digit 7

i cant seem to find the 1.2E ROM elevator fix at the moment
i'd like to have the 1.2 ROM anyway as i have the 1.0 i thinks

wouldnt the plastic piece in the back show up in the manual schematics someplace ?

just had that ramp off the other day and cant remember what was there

still dont think my diverter works during the game but it works in test mode

you want me to take a close-up picture of that area ?

Not my game. Just a pic from the internet. I never got around to doing the phone mod. I also wanted to rework the shoot again light because it lights up uneven and also throws light into the character inserts. I don't have my whodunnit anymore.

I'm not missing that pinkish plastic, unless that plastic is vertical. I believe it's horizontal. The ball gets stuck ON TOP of that plastic and underneath the ramp above. What I did was build a barrier in front of the plastic to keep the balls from traveling up there and getting stuck.

Here's a pic from IMDB:

The pink plastic is mounted horizontally and you can see there's space on top of it, underneath the ramp. If a ball lands up there, it can roll into the back corner and get stuck behind a post and not come out unless you pull the playfield out and extract it.

See:

In the above picture, the purple line shows ball travel; the green is an up post; the yellow is an otherwise open area where the ball gets stuck. Now either the up post is firing when a ball is on top, or somehow the ball is crawling up the wall when it rounds a turn, but it's flying into the upper area. So I put a metal band to stop it.

Well it would be this weekend before I could check my former game. Surely someone else will check theirs before then. All I can tell you is that I never experienced that issue, and I logged a ton of games. I also know both former owners of mine and the current owner never experienced it.

You have a weird one on your hands, that is for sure.

I guess it's possible there could be some moop (matter out of place) on the playfield that the ball hits which makes it airborne and then it creeps up the ramp...

During multiball the train ramp goes up, the ball gets hit under it (the taxi lane) and *poof* disappears. I will have to look underneath that ramp - maybe there's some piece of something there I didn't see which is launching the ball into the air?

Anyway, aside from that, I love this game. It's a lot of fun to play.

By the way, the past two weeks have been pretty good for pinball collecting for me. I have picked up three new machines. I really didn't want to get so many so quickly but I have a "short list" and some target prices that make me jump into action if the opportunity presents itself.

Now that makes things more interesting. You need to take the glass off, start up multiball, grab up all the balls in hand, and start chucking them up that orbit while looking down in there close. That will be the best way to see what is happening.

just out of curiosity, but what pins did you pick up? obviously, you got a W?D, but what others did you score?

(a totally selfish request as i'm always pining for new pins and like to live vicariously through those that are able to pick up new ones ;) )

I picked up a WW and am picking up a STTNG in two days. I'm *really* psyched about the sttng - it's been at the top of my short list for two years now and the right one showed up, so I'm doing a 600 mile road trip to get it.

The WW came from a friend who gave it to the in-laws who decided they didn't want it, and he didn't have room and I was in the right place at the right time and made a deal. I wasn't particularly looking for a WW but it was one of those offers I couldn't refuse - ironically I was thinking I could fix it up and trade it for a STTNG, but then the sttng showed up and I had to jump. The WW is going to need a bunch of work. It's got some weird stuff going on, but I won't be able to look at it for at least a week.

I can totally appreciate the vicarious thing.. in fact last night I took pictures of every inch of the WW. My plan is to post the pictures here on the forum and give you all a glipse of exactly what I saw when I first pulled the playfield up - there are some interesting surprises. Plus I really don't know if there are some things missing so I'll rely on the experts here to tell me what they think - it'll be at least a few days before I do that though.

cool deal. STTNG is a great pin. white water is pretty darn solid too, though i've only played it once.
