Who dunnit slot wheels don't match digital display on backglass

I have a who dunnit pinball that spins the 3 playfield slot wheels. The problem is that the result in the playfield does not match the electronic display repeater. (The dot matrix display in the backglass). The outer (1 & 3) playfield wheel results are always reversed from the graphic display in the backglass. Maybe the plastic playfield wheels where replaced, and wheel 1 and 3 were put back on the wrong side of the playfield? Anyone run into this problem?

I think you answered your own question. I would switch the two outisde wheels with each other. Sounds like that should fix it. I will say, I've taken mine apart and it's a bit of a chore, but it's a must if that's what's happening.

I have never taken apart a wheel assembly, however, there must be a control cable going to each individual motor. Would it make more sense to swap the control wires going to each wheel instead. Might be easier than pulling apart and rearranging the wheels.

I would go this route.

The whole control wire route sounds like it won't work, as if you look at the wheels as they go by, the optic sensor tells which wheel is which and when to stop because of a small gap in each wheel. That's the only way it knows. I think by swapping any cable will only make it worse, as it will confuse the game more, and then instead of "they match but are on the wrong side" you'll have "these damn things don't match at all".

Take it apart. It's not hard, just time consuming. One of these days, you're going to have to anyhow to replace the bulbs in there, and to clean out the metal shavings that build up in the motors.

There should be instruction in the manual as to which wheel goes in which spot (I haven't gotten that far yet on mine) I did however pull it off and it now sits on my, need to complete pile.
I did notice that the stickers have an A1, A2, and A3 marked on each wheel, that must be for position.
The whole assembly comes off real easy, 6 or 7 screws and 3 connections.

I checked my manual from lt to rt it should be 3a, 1a, 2a for the wheels to be in the correct location.
